I made the big mistake of turning on our game this morning. Tell me why we're still beating our chest after two strikes. Is this still a thing, unfortunately?

Why did he bother showing up to this tournament?

When is the nightmare going to end?
I mean, it certainly seems like we are not particularly clutch when hitting, but generally it seems like our hitting has been fine. As frustrating as it has been to watch sometimes, particularly early in the season, we mostly seem to be fine to good at the end of the season under Geaut? I don't know how much credit goes to his coaching versus us just recruiting people good enough to eventually figure it out, but it seems like that's been the most consistent part of our team under Lemonis.

Hitting is not the problem with this team. 2nd in the SEC in runs scored. That's a bit inflated because of the weak conference schedule. But offensively, this team is good enough. It's everything else that's the problem.

We get run ruled, and there may not be a post season.

That will be the only similarity between this team and the 2021 team
We’ll see. It would take a minor miracle for a deep run in Omaha. But this team can absolutely win a regional. And the truth of 2021 still holds true for this team too. There is nothing substantive to gain by a deep run at the Hoover Met. It’s better to rest your arms and plan your baseball schedule in a way to begin to peak next weekend.

We're 8-17 in Q1 games. It would take a major miracle for this team to win a regional, much less make a deep run in Omaha. We just don't have the pitching, and our fielding is a mess.

Meh. Would have probably said that in 2018, too. All it really takes is 2 good pitching performances. Regardless of seeding, we are virtually guaranteed to have our first matchup be against a team that we outmatch in terms of talent, because its gonna be a 2 or a 3 that’s not an SEC squad. So, just take care of business there, then get a good effort from Pico or Siary in Game 2.

I don't think we have the pitching depth to win a game 3 vs a #1 seed, much less a game 4 or 5. But yeah, you never know. The 2007 team rode an outstanding pitching performance by a .500 pitcher with a 5-something ERA to a win over Florida State and a trip to Omaha. Baseball postseason can be pretty random sometimes.

I’d put us at about a 20% chance to win a regional, and then if we won that, a 25% chance to win the Super. Would mean a 5% chance right now to get to Omaha. That feels about right to me.

10% * 25% = 2.5% chance of Omaha.
Since 1999, 17 3-seeds have made it to Omaha and 32 2-seeds have made it to Omaha. This suggest any random 3-seed team has a 4.3% chance to make Omaha. And any random 2-seed team has an 8% chance to make it to Omaha. I’d put us somewhere in between there. I certainly don’t see us as any worse this year than a typical NCAA Tournament 3-seed team.
