A tremendous investment of time and money, not to mention sitting through some unremarkable games. I like his characterization of some of the more unremarkable teams: "looked like punks," and War Memorial in Little Rock: "just a dump ... Veterans Stadium in Jackson is a nicer stadium than War Memorial." Heh! Couldn't have said it better myself. Even so, I'm fairly sure Rob hasn't left too many games early.

A true Bulldog supporter.

Congrats vhdawg.

That is an unhealthy dose of terrible football to watch in person.

At least you got a hug that lingered out of the deal. And now that you are back to square one like the rest of us... "If you have a chance to go to the game and support this team but don't then you are not a true fan!"**

If we win in Columbia then he's not allowed to travel to College Station.**

I don't know if you guys know Lamar. He's only missed 2 games in the last 30 years. He's a fixture at every State game (and a few watering holes). He scoffs at this cute little streak.

I agree 100% with his favorite and least favorite stadiums. I was able to go to all the stadiums, sans Fayetteville and Columbia is HIGHLY overrated. Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia are the three nicest and it's not close.

Up there with Ripken in my book. Just glad you got to go out our your terms.

If memory serves, there is also a story about the birth of a child and a Bama game? Is that right?

Here's something to think about...

last time this guy watched an MSU game live on a television, it was most likely in STANDARD DEFINITION and on a tv that weighted 300 pounds.

A salute to your road warrior ways (and undoubtedly your mechanic a few times), good sir.
After all the football you've seen, you either deserve a medal or a thorough psychiatric evaluation.

I always get more out of his game accounts than those from the media. His stories always give me a feel as if I was there. Time to start a new "streak".

I've left three games early.

But did he stay for the whole game each time?

1.) at Kentucky 2005: My future wife's grandfather died two days before the game, I basically drove all the way to Lexington on Saturday, went to the game, and drove back with a four or five hour sleep stop in Nashville. It was the quintessential Sylvester Croom game, and I was so disgusted I left with a minute or two left once we could not win. It was a awfully officiated game, and my lack of patience paid off by my being able to lock eye contact with head ref Rocky D. Goode as the referee van peeled away from Commonwealth Stadium, and I gave him the ol' middle-finger salute.

2.) at Alabama 2010: My wife was nine-months-and-a-couple-of-days pregnant. I waited as long as I could before leaving the house, and left after the first MSU possession of the 2nd half. As I was walking into the portal to leave, I think Alabama was in the process of busting out a long touchdown play. I hoofed it down the stairs and got home as quick as I could.

3.) Tennessee-Martin 2011: It was a lot to a little, and through a series of misadventures (mostly involving me forgetting things), we were parked at the research park, so we split a little early to catch the bus back. But along the way we got handed some leftover Little Caesars pizzas for free, so yay!

Your appearance was the highlight of the night. If only we could have arranged it with Jack Cristil to make that the Sonic Drive of the Game.

That's awesome. I was always too poor to go to away games while I was a student. I'm looking forward to finally getting to go next season when I have some money.

Yeah that's him. He's a great guy and totally bleeds Maroon and White. He usually sits behind the bench for basketball, so I imagine he's had his fair share of Meo's cheering/screaming in his ear. I don't know how he does it, but he makes it to every game.

I guess I left off the **. Wouldn't blame you at all for leaving some early in 13 years.

Travelling to watch a Croom Coast offense that many times had to be horrible

More power to you VH. Quite the impressive streak.

The fact that you didn't leave Texas A&M last year is enough for me.

I enjoyed the read

That was an impressive streak. Of all the road games on that list, the 2001 Florida game and the 2004 LSU game were the two worst football games I have ever seen. Reading this thread immediately reminded me of those.

Not a lot of choice on that one.

The fact that you didn't leave Texas A&M last year is enough for me.

My wife had left early and taken the car to Columbus to go shopping. Had to wait on her to get back.
