I've seen several University Master plans through the years. What's drawn for Davis Wade just looks like a general idea to represent a possible addition that the planning people used. I'm wondering if they had some concept drawings for the addition or if they just pulled that out of the air just to show there is an addition for the stadium is in the near term plan.

When i was a student at State, i did a lot of work with the researching campus land use using GIS and worked extensively with the master plan and did a lot of studies about the future of campus. Kind of cool to see a lot of the same ideas i had for research purposes and a lot similar maps. I've also done a lot of studies on the history of campus land use. its fun to overlay maps and see how much campus really has changed. the archives in the library have to some really cool maps that show the old railroad and presidents house. They also have a bunch of stuff of old main and i didn't know the baseball field used to be beside the football stadium. i'm a mapping nerd if you can't tell. i do like the addition to the stadium being added on there. I can see they have changed the plans a little for basketball. There used to be drawings on the old plans for a new arena.

It looks about like the shape they had on the master plan they did way back in 2002 (I think that was the year). Most of the other buildings have pretty generic shapes too.

Scott Field seems so small then. I remember it looking like that when I first went to games in 1982. I had a seat on the back row for some game in '83, and I remember looking over the back of the West Side at Starkville and the scene below.

It has a Coliseum listed right where the Hump is, but I can't imagine that it took eight years for them to complete it. Can any of you senior Dawgs shed light on this?

the company doing the 2020 master plan for the university is not the firm designing davis wade expansion. Sasaki is doing the campus master plan and Populous is taking on the stadium expansion. Sasaki is working with Populous somewhat just to make sure that there is no conflict with the master plan and expansion. This is just a generic endzone shown in BMT's post just to establish that there are future needs/plans for endzone expansion. Populous should complete the plans for the expansion within the next 1-2 months they will be revealed at that time. Furthermore, the campus master plan has yet to be completed either, getting close though.

master plan is just to show the layout of plans changes to landscape e.g. buildings, roads, and etc.on campus. The design for endzone expansion will vary with what Populous does. These plans will probably change too within a few years too as different more pressing needs come up. If you look at the old plan done back in 2002-2003, a lot of those plans have been trashed or changed.

Nice massing diagram, I bet the view from the West side would show areas of work at the concourse. I was kind of hoping they'd add boxes on the west side and leave them off the NEZ.

That photograph was not taken in 1967. Construction of the Hump didn't start until 1973 I think....opened on Dec 1 of 1975 according to school website.

Side note: The football practice fields were just west of McArthur Dorm and butted up to the parking lot. As construction lingered on the Hump on the hill across the street....Coach Bob Tyler was convinced to the point of paranoia that opposing teams were across the street taking notes and pictures. One Sunday I kinda took an unofficial tour of the construction site and got to the top tier by climbing ladders and jumping. Sure enough, there were Polaroid backing sheets all over the area. Shots of the football practice fields across the street.

way to Hwy 25. That was the big push when I was there. Bypass may have taken care of that.

Also what is the Sanderson Center expansion about? That addition is probably the thing I felt I missed out on the most. Got to use it for one year.

I have mixed emotions about Dorman. The absolute hardest class in my educational experience (BS from State, DMD from UMC) was there. I hated every minute of Dr. Kennedy's 5 hour biochem. I also got a B in it.The sense of accomplishment from that B was ahead of any A I ever got.

The road to connect to 25 is still in the works, and most likely will happen fairly soon from what i'm hearing. On the newsest master plan that design, it is not up on line yet, the connector road to hwy25 is shown. They say that is going to happen in the very very near future.

The Sanderson is way way undersized compared to where we need it to be, there is absolutely no room for a growing student poplulation. If we are going to be at 23,000 students in two years, it has to be expanded.

Butler Guest House, Memorial Hall, the buildings at Garner circle, and Butler Hall too it looks like. Not Evans though. Strange.

I wonder which building is slated to be the new administration building...

Evans is the most structurally sound out of all of thosebuildings, that's why it will remain. Lee Hall, after the upcomingrenovation, is planned to be the new administration building.

The band and choir have an excellent building right now. The building mislabeled "Band" is actually the new music building. You can see they plan to tear down Music A, B, & C (the beloved former "choral trailer").

The "C" Dr Nelson gave me for "Soils" was the best Christmas present ever. I say "gave" because I don't believe there was any way I earned the grade.

He taught my dad in the early 60s and me in the mid 80s. Hardest class I've ever taken.

Has anyone revealed specific details about The Hump, Dudy Noble, and Davis Wade? It's obvious that the focus of Davis Wade will be increased luxury seating, but I was curious as to whether "expansion" of the other two necessarily meant more seating or just a renovation of the facilities. Looking at the presentation, it appears that Dudy Noble will be going through some seating changes, but I couldn't really guess as to what the boxes on each side of the Hump were supposed to be.
