Do you have an issue with every American citizen presenting a photo id to vote?
see this is the point. It’s a simple yes or no.
you don’t want to say yes bc you know it’s ludicrous.
You don’t want to say no bc then you’d have to agree with republicans.
It is not a simple yes or no because the devil is in the details.
- As already stated twice, I am fine with my current voting process where I present a photo ID. It does not seem overly burdensome and there are multiple accepted alternate ways to prove ID, to ensure people are ultimately allowed to legally vote.
- I would not just blindly say I support any law which requires photo ID to vote because my support would depend in part on which IDs are acceptable vs rejected. As an example, if a law stated a passport or current driver's license were the only 2 forms of accepted photo ID, I would not support that law.
Like many issues- you want a simple black or white answer and you dont consider or dont care about all the nuance and detail around the issues.
Ensuring elections are safe, accessible, and accurate is important. If there is a large voter fraud issue, that needs to be addressed. Like other fraud, if it were an issue then a ton of people would be tried and jailed...but that isnt happening. It isnt happening because it isnt actually a widespread issue.
Our current election processes result in safe, accessible(barely), and accurate elections.
