For instance: "He's the best passer in the National Football League." We are all familiar with the acronym NFL, just say NFL.<div>
</div><div>Or, "Dan Mullen is just trying to win football games." He's a 17ing football coach, you don't need to reaffirm the sport he's involved with.</div>

"He's got tremendous upside!" "His upside is through the roof!!" I understand it's the modern day term for "potential" but I hate it and its extreme overuse.

I used to try to see how many times I could count the words "football" in conversation between sports analysts and/or coaches but I'd always give up about 1/4th of the way through.

A question I heard someone ask... what is the most annoying "cliche'" saying used by talking heads?

I get more annoyed in the other direction. Like, when a referee overturns a call and says "the ball will be placed on the 1 yard line" and then clearly places it at the "1 foot line."

Isn't every tackle touchdown saving?<div>
</div><div>College basketball: "From NBA range." At least they don't call it an "NFL style reception" when they catch the ball with both feet in bounds.</div>

A question I heard someone ask... what is the most annoying "cliche'" saying used by talking heads?

It's as incorrectly applied as "could care less" and the constant misapplication of the word "myself" when the word "me" should be used.

...as if he wasn't trying to make a catch. A few more.
They really need to get some points on board.
Sometimes you see a young QB grow up in a game.
He's got a great football IQ.
Nice open field tackle
He's got to get rid of the football.
The defense is pinning their ears back. (I really hate that one)
