I was too young to remember them playing for us, but from everything I’ve read, and been told, they were incredible here. They both played the maximum 3 years here. Louie averaged 20 points for his career. Dan averaged 26 ppg for his CAREER. 2 time consensus All American.

Dampier was a 2 time second team All American.

…..the top 2 all time ABA leaders in points scored, are both Kentucky Wildcats.

1. Louie Dampier….honestly, the most under appreciated player in our history.

2. Dan Issel. A legend.
Louie is an awesome dude. Played pickup basketball with him all the time in high school. Always talked the Cats with him.

Those were the days......no transfer portal or NIL.
I agree. I guess I can see the NIL part of it, IF, there were some kind of structure, parameters.
Nobody actually knows how in the world it actually works. It seems like they make the rules as it goes along.

The instant transfer crap is just retarded, and is going to be the death of college sports.

Calipari has the right idea on this topic. Limit it to 1 transfer portal entry per player career, unless coaching change occurs. This would bring normalcy but also allow special circumstances one time for players. Anyone who transfers outside of that has to sit out a year like the old days.

I rarely agree with John, but I do on this.

Yeah he happened to play in a local game every weekend around Louisville. He was a cool dude and let me tell you he didn’t miss a jumper till this day.
I was going to ask about his shooting. About how old was he at that time?

It was around 2005-2008. I’d say about 60. Nobody in that game was super athletic, just basic rando players. Some in their 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. He didn’t move very well, but he could shoot the crap out of it and knew how to play so he was very effective still.

Yeah Calipari has always had good ideas on how to work this. Congress needs to have guys like him work with them to set up a proper framework for this and let the NCAA actually enforce it. Make common sense rules for getting paid, transfers, and protections for the donors and schools as well.

I think people focus too much on "how" it works rather than "should" it be a part of the college landscape. It's just going to be higher and higher dollar amounts going forward until the game no longer resembles what it did in seemingly good ol' days. I expect more and more advertisements to be part of things going forward, uniforms and courts covered in them.

I think most of us agree it’s heading straight towards the ground and picking up speed.
