I would have asked how do we get a 10 or 11 seed and avoid Dayton. Weirdly would still rather that than an 8-9 game.

Not sure if Brad reads this board but he'd be good as a replacement for Lunardi or Palm. He's smarter than both and seems pretty comfortable on camera.
BAC just as good too. Brad is good. Lunardi seems like a good guy. Palm seems like a spoiled brat with an odd RU vendetta.

Makes a good point about recency bias - that the “last 10 games” metric officially was excluded almost 12 years ago, yet the committee still showed recency bias with their top-16 seed release a few weeks ago which had UConn outside a top 4 seed despite their great metrics but poor performance leading up

I think a lot of the rules are true but can’t ignore recency despite what they say.
I have always heard geography was a favor. They want more west coast teams/games.
I think CBS has to have some pull.
Never would admit any of that.

They did. But oddly, the committee seems to do the opposite when it comes to conference tourney wins. Didn’t help A&M last year…

One thing I took away from that podcast is the Committee pretty much has it's mind made up by Friday evening. So B1G semis and finals over the weekend don't have much if any impact.

That’s why conference tourneys for the Power Conferences really are silly and sadly life or death for the smaller conferences.

Very good interview. I had knocked Brad earlier about his flip flopping, but he did a good job explaining many things.

Best of Luck,
Groz

It’s not sad. That’s American sports. Playoffs are how titles are decided. The teams that get better throughout the year are rewarded, the teams that started hot are not. Also, most lower conf tourneys give such huge advantages to the top seeds so it’s still not a total dice roll … see the WCC - Gonzaga and St Mary’s have TRIPLE byes .. 1 win and they’re in the championship .. meanwhile 7th place has to win 5 games straight to get the championship

If you are going to do a conference tourney, the WCC does it right. Rewards regular season.
The Major Conference Tournament are stupid. As Brad pointed out they already know the seedings before the tourneys are over. You are basically playing for nothing so they are little more than expensive exhibitions.
The Minor Conference Tournaments I suppose are more interesting but still grossly unfair. The IVY League did it right for years.

The Playoffs is the actual 64*

Conference Tournaments are stupid.
