Probably telling since this is coming from an Alabama beat writer

If we don't get Napier, Sarkisian is the only credible, responsible choice out of the names we've been hearing.

That doesn't mean I love Sarkisian. But that's how bad some of these other potential choices are.

After watching Sark completely destroy the Atlanta offense, I'm not interested. I would rather take a chance on one of these guys I've never heard of.

Although Sarkvegas sounds cool, I'm praying we can do better than Sarkisian. He couldn't do it in the Pac 12. Are we thinking he learned something from Saban ? I would rather roll the dice with Hud than Sark. But who knows what Cohen has up his sleeve.

Hire would not be an embarrassment, fans seem disappointed in the comments. I think I could dig it.

Same here. I’d rather have hud. At least he has won everywhere he’s been and can recruit MS.

If Sark has overcome his personal demons, he’s a very good coach. He did a really underrated job at Washington after Ty Willingham totally wrecked that program. Had a pretty good first year at USC then unraveled in Year 2.

It’s somewhat of a gamble still. But he has a higher level head coaching experience than any of our other candidates and has been pretty highly regarded since the mid 2000s. We could do a lot worse.

I could get behind Sark. I'd put Napier and Calhoun above him, but I'll take Sark over the other names I've heard

To be fair, his failure in the PAC 12 wasn’t related to coaching ability. And the fact that Saban hired him twice after that whole ordeal speaks highly of him. His only coaching related failure was with the Falcons, but he has done well (personal issues aside) at every stop in the college ranks.

People keep saying Cohen wouldn’t hire Hudspeth because of his baggage, but he’s allegedly about to hire a guy who showed up to practices and games drunk?

Cool

Sark's last year was obviously influenced by his problems drinking. I personally would throw the win loss record out for that year.

His job at Washington is probably more indicative of what he can do sober.

I have no problem with Sark's on the field resume. It's my favorite resume of the realistic candidates. To me his risk lies in his alcoholism

For the record I'm a recovering alcoholic. Sober since Jan 2011

I’m glad someone said this. I’m still mad about it but I guess I could forgive him if he comes to Starkville

My thoughts exactly. Doesn't get me all that excited. Especially with the concern of whether his offense can work here. But whatever

Agreed. I only like this because he’s not Joe, Grantham, or Hud. I feel like his ceiling is 8-4. His best record is 9-4 at USC before getting fired for getting **** faced. I’m gonna support him and be positive and hope he’s grown as a coach from being around Saban.

In Sarks last season with Atlanta, they averaged the 25.9 ppg, which is the 3rd best average for Atlanta over in the last 18 years.

Yes they fell off in his first season, but they averaged 21.6 with Sark in 2017 (still finished 15th in the NFL) and 21.2 with Shanahan in his first season as OC in 2015. They improved from Shanahan year 1 to year 2 and improved from Sark year 1 to year 2. They actually got worse this year with Sark gone.

Looking at the Falcons numbers over the past 2 decades, 2016 is more the one-off outlier than Sarks 2 years.

Agreed. Retarded logic. And who gives a 17 if he worked for Saban. This is Mississippi State.
