Sorry to bring this out of the Egg Bowl thread, but wanted to leave that one for Egg Bowl talk.
Whether you like it or not, we are in the lowest tier of the SEC when it comes to bargaining power. So when ESPN/SEC say "we want you to play on Thursday against UK," we pretty much have to deal with and move on. We could say no, but then we have pissed off ESPN and the SEC and risk playing on FSN every game for the next few years. Accepting a Thursday game graciously also gives you the chance to ask for other guarantees like your other home games being guaranteed a primetime slot, etc... in return.
As much as some of you seem to think that Stricklin should "stand up for the fans," Telling ESPN to go screw themselves is the worst thing he could ever do given our standing in the conference.

^^ Agree, 100% ^^

^^ And while I agree with the post, I "dislike" that we are in that position 100% ^^

You are correct.

Also I would take a Thursday night game over a 11:00 A.M Saturday game any day, and that's what this game would be otherwise.

How do you figure that? My money would be on 6pm ESPNU/FSN

The 11am SEC-Network slot picks third in the hierarchy of the networks. CBS first, then ESPN, then SEC-Network, then ESPN if they want a game on ESPN2 or ESPNU (or both) then FSN/CSS.

The other SEC games that week are:
UT vs Bama (CBS)
SC vs Mizzou
Vandy vs TAMU
UK vs MSU.

We'll probably be 3-3, maybe 4-2. So we're not an appealing matchup. I could easily see the other 3 games being selected before us, therefore putting us at a night time slot.

Have to simply win our way out of it. Hate to break it to some of you, but take a good look at Auburn. That's exactly what will happen to us if we ever achieve that type of success.

We are always going to fight an uphill battle in our position. May as well embrace the 'fight', much like Auburn has. 'All-in' or whatever it is they say.
