... because of INJURIES on the Offense! Plain and simple!

When we lose please no melt downs! This staff and players had been giving there all and deserve our support when injuries totally make one side of the ball impotent!

I'm throwing deep alot if I'm Langs. Don't think they can cover our wideouts at all.
Throwing deep is not a great game plan, Tommie will be under a bull rush all night and you don't want him throwing it up for grabs. Best way to move the ball against them go into the no huddle 2 minute type offense take the short passes.

Gee your right! I'm not a fan at all! It's my opinion, after watching the offense against Purdue, that we have zero chance! I hope I'm wrong but I have no idea how we score on Wisconsin when we could barely move on the worst D in the league!

We weren't exactly unproductive against Purdue. I wasn't thrilled myself with our offense in that game but they made it matter by putting more than enough points on the board to win the game. It's annoying and sometimes downright frustrating to watch them over the course of a game but at the same time interesting with the consistency of coming through in the end. We haven't been winning these games by luck either so it's not something I would say is an either way type game. I don't think we'll beat Wisconsin myself but I think we can beat them and have more than a shot at doing so. We're capable but need to bring our A game and do some things that will benefit us rather than hurt us. I worry most about that second quarter and maybe the early third. If we keep the game manageable through that period I'd say our chances of winning increase by quite a bit.

I'm no homer either, I'm actually a skeptic here but I'd like to consider myself as being able to see both good an bad.

Maybe if we run it 95% of the time we can win it! Okay, joking, but I can see a win.

- 2 of their better LB's injured, their kicker is injured.
- freshman qb still learning.
- they haven't been able to score very many points.
- they're gonna want to run, Banker's D concentrates on stopping the run. And they don't have a running qb.

If we win we win. If we lose we lose. Why make excuses before the game has been played.

Well OP has a solid point. We have history working against us. A higher ranked top 10 team has never gone on the road and won.

It would be something to behold!!

I recall many times where we supposedly had no chance...give it a rest...it's not like they are Alabama. Any team can be beat. Will we win? Don't know. But I'm not saying we have no chance. Jesus H. It's Wisconsin. They struggled with Iowa. Northwestern beat Iowa worse. Lighten up Francis.

So it's agreed, if we lose Saturday than we can give the coaches and players a break because of all the injuries they are fighting through!

You can just keep attacking me so you feel better! GBR

No one is going to give anyone a break. It's a freaking message board. The game will be discussed, the poor play calls will be blamed on Langsdorf, the poor execution or turnovers will be blamed on Armstrong. The bad defensive play will be blamed on Banker. That is what I expect from this board based on what I have read in my time here. And that is using the past 7 victories as my base line.

There will also be positives talked about as well. But to expect anyone to get a break is laughable and naive.

OP, if you think Wisconsin will beat Nebraska because they have a better football team and they're playing at home, then please just make that assertion.

But using the Purdue game as a gauge is a bit foolish:

1. Nebraska could've ran the Zone Read with Tommy 20 times and racked up another 120 yards on the ground. But there was no need. Do you remember Nebraska's first touchdown? That play was there all game long, but the coaches didn't see the need to put Tommy in harms way.

2. Jordan Westerkamp didn't play. His absence changes the way teams defend Nebraska. Teams must cover him with a Nickel. This means you will have one less backer on the field. It also means Riley and Moore are out wide on the edge. Teams can't cover them one on one. That means you need to keep both safeties back in coverage. Secondly, if Tommy is pressured and extending plays with his feet, Jordan becomes most dangerous because he has an uncanny ability to improvise his route.

These two aspects change the running game for Nebraska. IT forces teams to account for Tommy Armstrong, a damn good runner, but it also opens up the stretch, jet sweep, and zone running from the backs. This is all relevant, despite the injuries.

3. You could just as easily say Wisconsin has no chance to beat Nebraska because they struggled vs a terrible Georgia State team. Purdue would be a 2 touchdown favorite over Georgia State.

4. Wisconsin is one of only two teams in college to score less than 20 offensive touchdowns and have a winning record.

5. Nebraska has a top 25 defense in virtually every defensive category. THis isn't like past trips to Madison where Nebraska couldn't stop air.

I respect Wisconsin and believe they will present an immense challenge. But claiming Nebraska doesn't have a chance is silly . Look for the Huskers to open up the offense a lot more this weekend.

Which is exactly what you don't want TA doing. Throwing short and in traffic is the worst plan for TA. Throwing the deep ball is his strength and they can't cover Nebraska's wideouts.

I think taking a couple of extra shots downfield has to be in the cards if only to keep their D honest. TA can throw a good deep ball and we have the receivers to make that happen. If Westy is better than 90%, we have him, Zo Moore, Reilly, a surging DPE, plus Stan the Man. On any down the Badgers will have to respect all three receivers. It's up to the coaches to design an effective game plan for the pass.

It feels for all the world like a game where they will need to rely on Tommy's arm if they are going to win. I just don't see NU's beat up OL being able to line up and mash against Wisconsin with how stout their defense looked against OSU and Michigan.

Stranger things have happened, I would not have predicted the way they were able to bang on MSU last year. There will be some interesting chess moves given how will the coaches know each other and the similarities in the offenses.

My bigger concern is we have not played a complete game all year. If we do - and assume the offense struggles regardless vs. a very good D - it will be a close game. I like our QB winning the game vs. Wisky QBs. Yes TA is prone to the bonehead error but he is a gamer and will not back down if given a chance to win the game via his arm and/or legs. That is a big difference in this game. We have the better QB. Won't be true next week.

The Oline is banged up and Purdue came in with an effective game plan against the run. But maybe even though they are hurting they go up to Madison with a chip on their shoulder. I like our chances if they can just hold serve on the Oline.

Yes, like if you watched what Purdue did to us last year, it would be easy to think there was no way we could beat Michigan State, right?
In 40 years of watching this team, I have never, not once even entertained the thought that there was no way we could win a game. No fan does that, period. I'm not sure what game you are playing here by posting this, but I am sure that I don't like whatever it is. Saying we still need to support the team and players after saying they can't win is a complete contradiction. Because saying they can't win is about as much contempt and hatred as you can show for the team.

Ever think that the Nebraska players looked ahead last week ? Purdue was not suppose to poise a serious threat.

Emotion and focus will change the team this week, much as it did in the last few games last year.

Tell me I can't , and you face a different foe . NU is in that position

This is the same Wisconsin team that required a monumental F*** up by Nebraska to get a second chance at a game winning FG to win last year correct?

I don't understand why people are pissing themselves. We beat a playoff team last year in Michigan State that was alot better than this Wisco team.
