I don't think it's due to the officials. SMU's screwing up on their own.

Just based on the eye test, watching Clemson dominate smu in the trenches, SMU doesn't need to be in the playoff.

But seeing Alabama blow a huge lead vs UGA, lose to VANDERBILT, struggle to beat S Carolina, look like crap vs Oklahoma and lose badly and not dominate a average Auburn team at home… the only reason they’re in the discussion is because they were able to sneak out a win vs SC and the uniform they wear.
