between he and the Mullens after he told them he was going to Auburn:

"I called coach Mullen," Newton said in the interview. "I told him what I had on my heart at the time. I talked to him and his wife. We had an excellent conversation. They wished me the best, and I wished them the best."

So apparently he thought they took it pretty well when he told them he had to go where the $ was.

I especially enjoyed the lack of a denial when asked about the "money was too much" statement...

...Okay, I get it: Many of you hate Jim Rome's guts. I don't care, because Jim Rome is a national sports talk figure who carries weight.

That being said, Rome's take on Newton is similar to all our takes on Cam Newton: That the guy is definitely hiding something. Rome said CN's interview with ESPN was a joke, because CN "spoke alot of words, but said nothing."

But Rome did contradict himself by claiming he (Rome) would vote for CN to win the Heisman. I didn't get that one.

Two or three clones then e-mailed JR during the segment & really blasted CN.

The bottom line is outside of Auburn, Alabama & Bristol, Connecticut pretty much everybody thinks Cam & Cecil Newton are rotten to the core.

Everybody thinks he's guilty of something, deep down, even Auburn fans. It's only the people who presently stand to make some money ofof him, who won't actually admit it to the public.

Along those lines, a financial planner I know met with a couple of Aubies. They came to the meeting wearing SMU hats.....conceding that the hammer was eventually coming. </p>
