23 wins overall and 13 SEC wins will leave us out of the NCAAs if we lose to LSU. This guy seriously sucks. He is the most negative MSU writer I have seen.

yeah, there're special places for people like him. they're called message boards. and they don't include a salary

Oh yes, because after LSU comes a trip to Auburn - which just beat Ole Miss - f

nice. he's just a bad writer, word to word, sentence to sentence

that would make us 3-2 against teams in the top 50 as of right now and LSU.

I think its going to be hard to leave us out if that were to happen.

looks like the SEC will get 5 teams, and if we get 11 plus a tourney win, we'll be in...12 or more is a lock

Sure, losing to LSU but winning out would give MSU a 13-3 record in league play and 23 total wins. But that RPI of 79 would have to move up - and it should, as all upcoming opponents but Auburn have higher RPIs than the Bulldogs. That could get the Bulldogs in, but again, I just don't see a clean run through the rest of the schedule.

What I see is him saying that he doesn't see us running the table to get to 23 wins if we lose to LSU tonight. I don't see where he says 13-3 in the SEC would leave us out.

The whole column is just bad analysis. He is right about the RPI being low, but crazy if he thinks sweeping UT, Florida and USC would not offset that. We could also win out including LSU and I don't know that our RPI would jump much higher than 50 (just a guess). It would take a lot of teams in front of us collapsing to have a more substantial jump than that.

Don't give me our conference record. Look at who we've beaten who we've lost to and tell me why we deserve to get in.

Thats not what I read. Make sure you get it right if you're going to call someone out. I'm not a fan of B.L., but you defintitely put in your own words in and said it was B.L.'s

I don't care what anyone says, a 13-3 record in the freaking Mountain West conference would probably get into the NCAAs. Some are being brainwashed with this "SEC sucks" argument. Sure it ain't championship caliber but it is not nearly as bad as some are saying.

The last sentence of Locke's column states, "Theres precious little wiggle room on top of that bubble and a loss on Wednesday could eliminate even that." Why don't you read before you call someone out.

A loss for Mississippi State won't be the end of the world, but it won't portend good postseason fortunes down the road. There's precious little wiggle room on top of that bubble, and a loss Wednesday could eliminate even that.
He hedges three times in the last paragraph.

I agree it's more pessimistic than it needs to be but I don't think he says what you have him saying.

He's probably safe though, because we have played the dregs of the conference so far to build our 6-2 record, and will be fortunate to go better than 4-4 down the stretch.

Can any of you imagine even having a discussion of UK, Florida, or Tennessee making the NCAA with a 13-3 SEC record and an RPI that would probably be around 60? Hell, freaking no. We have the most pessimistic fans and beat writers on the planet. Without freaking question. Beyond a shadow of a doubt. Indisputably. No doubt in my mind. We will make the NCAAs with even a 12-4 SEC record. To question that is completely being pessimistic just for the sake of being pessimistic. We need that pessimism from guys like Locke to get rid of Croom but sometimes you have to turn it off.

He still did not say this. You completely put those words into his mouth.

....but I basically agree with the premise that if we lose tomorrow night, we're in big trouble.

I think 12-4 plus one in the tourney locks us in. I think anything less than that is certainly not a lock. So go 12-4 and win one, or go 11-5 and play on Sunday.

With the remaining schedule, we're not getting to 12 without a win tomorrow night.

if UK, Florida and Tenn were in this position it wouldn't be will they make it, it would be how could they not make it. Speaking of Locke he is a crotch sniffing ball licker and sucks as a writer for MSU and I don't read his **** anymore.

I still feel like Locke pretty clearly states in his last sentence that our bubble could bust if we lose to LSU. This is a BS statement because it puts the enire balance of the season on one game. We still have games to play against UT, Florida, and SOuth Carolina. There are plenty of other chances to impress the committee. Locke injects negativity unnecessarily. This team was never expected to even be in this position this season and most of his articles tend to put us in an underachieving light.

What you just said is right. He said if we lose our bubble COULD burst since it is unlikely that we will win out. In your first post you said he proclaimed us dead if we did not win tonight, which he did not do.

Splitting hairs, but there is nothing better to debate on a Tuesday non-game day than this so......

I still think he needs to lay off the "buts" in every article. Example: Sure State had the 18th best recruiting class BUT it is only the eight best in the SEC. Or sure State just beat Kentucky and Arkansas BUT they have to beat LSU to stay on the bubble. Read Alford's columns on Ole Miss and compare them sometime. It is like reading sixpackspeak at times.

no doubt in my mind. Everyone does realize that if that scenario plays out we will have SWEPT the East including road wins at KY and TN plus beating FL and SC at home. Plus to accomplish 13-3 we will also have had to add another road win in Oxford. I personally do not see us reaching 13-3 but if we do in any way, shape or form we are a lock IMO no matter how "down" the SEC is perceived to be. In fact, I believe we would be in at 12-4 no matter how we get there. Anything less than that may get a little dicey however.
