From Tylers mouth..."I am going to Mississippi State. I have always wanted to go there. I know Coach Mullen is going to bring a great offense there and we are going to get some great players to come. We are putting together a great class." Also, notice how he uses "we." He is going to be one hell of a leader.

Mark your calendars...

"I know I am going to visit Mississippi State. It was going to be the 30th, but I think it's going to be the 16th now. I am trying to go when Tyler, Bumphis and Pat Patterson are all going. Tracey Lampley.

Reports official visits to USM January 10th, Auburn January 17th, and Ole Miss January 21st.

When asked if there's anybody else in the running for his signature...

"Alabama. Thats about it."

...He's not going to Southern, ditto for Auburn and that he doesn't have a serious offer from Bama.... I'd say that about seals it for OM. Unless Mullen and Hudspeth can pull a 180 with him.

I will say that I'm not at all inclined to take any interview done by Yancy at face value. Patterson has been quoted as saying otherwise very recently.

Even before I saw this, I was checking the ESPN databases... they have this to say about Patterson. Basically says he has good hands and is physical, but doesn't have blazing speed.

I cut out all premium access last year, so I don't have a feel of what to really think about him as a player.</p>*** edited double negative-ku ***

If Steve comes back with a Patterson article with Patterson stating that he's visiting MSU, then he's going on a State visit.

But, regardless of if he goes on a State visit, I think he's going to Ole Miss.

As I stated in another thread, I think Bumphis, Cox, Russell, Boyd, and Skinner will end up at State.

These articles are always alot of fluff, but I don't think the writers lie. I think they put what the players say...and I know the players change what they say based on who they are talking to.

Patterson isn't a blazer. Norwood has better speed, but average hands. Patterson is a possession WR kinda like Shay Hodge. He has the best hands in MS, and its not even close. He's not going to beat Norwood or Bumphis in a speed contest, however. He's also 6'3" 210 and just overpowers DBs. He's going to be a big-time WR, but he won't be as much of a big-play threat like some of the other players in the state.

.....had the article you posted not have come from Yancy Porter. His articles have an uncanny knack at sounding completely different than pretty much anybody else's when interviewing the same player.

I was just giving an update because there has been renewed talk of Patterson here.

If you happened to read it, I said last week that I'm pretty damn positive that Patterson goes to Ole Miss, while Bumphis will likely sign with MSU. I didn't get any of that from Yancy. Of course, it is kinda odd the difference in the articles from the C-L and the article from Robertson on Russell. Point being, as I've already said, the recruits tailor their comments to the writers, especially a guy like Patterson or Russell, guys that know the names of Yancy and Robertson and which schools they represent.

and put a statement or two in quotes knowing that the player and his family will read it knowing that it is an out and out lie? Is that about right?

That's not too much of a stretch there considering that 3 are solid commits and one is a soft verbal... You really on reached out there on Bumphis, and even that is not much of a stretch.

That said, patterson would probably be a stretch for State, but I refuse to believe that he is completely ruling out State simply because about 5 other interviews have pointed to the exact opposite. I think this one has a lot to do the the Porter factor

And then he took the article down a couple of days later after Robertson did a counter article.

Since he was committed to us earlier in the year, I have a hard time believing that it would be a stretch to land Patterson. If anything, it makes me think that we have a better shot at him than anybody. I just can't imagine that Croom being gone would have any negative impact on him.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Nutt is a horrible recruiter! Just look at the state of Arkansas football today. Nothing. I have said it before and I will say it again, Nutt is horrible when it comes to recruiting. What talent he got while at Arkansas would have gone to Arkansas anyways.

Mullen will dominate Ole Miss in recruiting. Maybe not this year but next year and on until he leaves Miss State.</p>

Patterson, who sparked the Tigers to the 4A title and the state's No. 1 overall ranking, said the hiring of Mullen rekindles his interest in State.</p>

"Since they got a new head coach in and he ran the spread offense a lot, I'm going to give him a good look," Patterson said. "It makes me think maybe I could go there. The way he ran things at Florida makes me think maybe I could fit in with their offense.</p>

"We (Russell, Bumphis and Patterson) have talked about going to the same school, but we haven't decided on a school yet. We are looking at State together."</p><a href="http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20081211/SPORTS030102/812110372/1079">
