Looks good

MSU has received two more baseball commitments.

Magnolia Heights School RHP/INF Jacob Billingsley has committed to MSU. He also considered Ole Miss and a couple of other schools.

El Toro HS (CA) catcher Gavin Collins has also committed to MSU. He chose MSU over his other*final three of Arizona State, Oregon and Fresno State. He visited those schools, as well as MSU, before making his final decision.

Catcher rated 9.5 out of 10 by perfect game

This baseball program is getting serious.....

Those are some pretty good offers, can't believe Cohen is getting California guys. Really just the tip of the iceberg, he's taking his pick it seems. If Cohen doesn't win a National Championship he'll get damn close.

They are both solid pick ups

Especially Collins, the catcher. He can play a number of positions which is helpful since we will have Garner for the next three years at catcher. Eventually, he will start at catcher unless Garner stays four years, and if that happens, Collins will probably play outfield. Catcher is his primary position though.

Billingsley will be a solid bullpen guy for us. He's going to be a good four year player and he is throwing 87-88 right now. We'll see what Butch can do with him. He's not a guy that is going to be a superstar, but he will help us win games and we need guys like that too.

I like what we are doing

Now that we are winning, baseball players from the Perfect Game states will start to come to MSU.

This is a typical class for us- take five of the top eight players in Mississippi, add in about 3-4 guys from the surrounding area- Alabama, Memphis, Louisiana, and then take 2-3 from the Perfect Game states- California, Florida, Texas, and Georgia. Then add in a couple of JUCO's to build depth in the bullpen and on the bench.

I also saw

where Evan Mitchell has been hitting 92-95 on the gun and really improved on his hook. Rea seems to beeing doing real well so far, too. I believe they had mentioned he had yet to record an out in scrimmages so far, or something like that. I just hope Cohen doesn't screw up the season, again.

That's just what I call them

Because they produce a lot of players and back when PG was starting, that's where a lot of the players were from. I'm probably the only one that calls them that.

Actually, that is Jacob Robson

that is 6 for 6 so far. Wes Rea has hit the only home run of the fall so far, so he is having a good showing as well.

Evan will be in the mix for a rotation spot- it's more a question of his command than anything.
