Addae Leaving kinda stings a bit

Being he played here, now coaching here and doing a fantastic job, getting poached by UGA with one of our best Def coaches, this blows... Guys, this is proof we MUST DONATE TO THE MAC! If we expect to be able to hire quality coaches, more importantly KEEP THEM WHEN WE FIND THEM, we must give our program the funds they need to hire & keep good talent.

I honestly thought he would get a pay raise this year, and that would be enough to keep him & Lesley together.. Dont complain if you dont DONATE!

He will be making 600,000 at Georgia. Twice what he makes here. That's DC type pay for beginners. He would have gotten a pay raise but probably not a 300,000 dollar pay raise.

Lesley was named DC. Addae wants to be a head coach someday and going to Georgia can add to his resume. I wish him well. If other schools aren't coming after your coaches then something needs changed.

Let's hope he returns here as a HC someday cause we know Brown won't be here forever.

When Brown was first hired, and then hired his staff, I thought WOW, thats a great staff... But after Vic, Seilers, and Addae leaving, its not looking the same level...

Agree with what you said, but still the program needs more funds to compete... Obvious by the "Time to Climb" campaign.. If we cant match other top 10-15 schools, we shouldnt expect to be a top 10 team.. We'll never compete with Bama, UT, etc, but we could def improve a little..

I just hope Brown is able to fill his shoes, with someone close to his quality. Disappointing a bit more cause its his school I suppose, hoped he would remain here and eventually take the DC job, hopefully he comes back at some point, but I seriously doubt he will become UGA's DC, Kirby wears that hat...

Brown knows really good assistant coaches. They are out there everywhere. Sometimes there are good coaches but the talent isn't up to par on the team they are coaching. DC job is for Lesley Jordan. Addae will be just fine and I expect he will be a Head Coach soon. You need to improve your resume to move up the ranks. No coach is in a permanent position anymore. The days of Don Nehlen 20 years as HC are over.

This is a very poor state with majority being retired elderly with fixed income. You're not going to increase MAC donations. WVU is not Alabama, Texas or any other monetary school. But WVU competes just fine against the Texas and other so called Prima Donna's on the field of play. Have done so for many years now.

Assistant coaches have seen the writing on the wall with Brown's lack of success at WVU and are getting out while the getting is good.

Stay at WVU a couple more seasons like the last two, or worse, or go to a program seeking success at the highest level. Easy choice.

Are there any ideas on who Brown is targeting to hire?

West Virginia has hired a new assistant coach, bringing in former Old Dominion defensive line coach Andrew Jackson. Jackson's exact role will be specified at a later date.

Prior to that, Jackson was at JMU, where he helped hone one of the best defenses in the FCS ranks in 2019. The Dukes led the country (FCS level) in total defense, making it all the way to the National Championship that season. Before heading to JMU, he was a quality control coach at Mississippi State, the defensive line coach at Fordham (2017), and a graduate assistant at Penn State.

I dont mean to be negative, but Does anyone else feel like we lost a Rich Rod and got a Bill Stewart? Is this the only Defensive hire we are pursuing? Are we not going to move Casteel back as an analyst?

The quality of this Defensive staff has taken a significant step backward, very quickly. Vic, Pogue, Addae, Seilers.... Given a quality defense is instrumental for how Brown wants to play, disappointed, and I suspect we will see the effects next season. Koonz did ok with the LBs, but special teams was an absolute embarrassment to watch at times this year. I suppose Im concerned, because Defense has been the strength of this team, and if we start to struggle on Defense, and if Garrett Greene doesnt develop quickly, it could get ugly... At least we know the overall talent & depth are improving, so that helps, but losing 1-2 quality coaches cn be managed, but losing 4 in such a short period is a bit much.

Really hoping they hire another coach...

Lesley was the jewel.

This was obvious. As everything worked out he was the one WVU had to keep.
They did.

Truthfully need to pay him as a DC if times comes.
At least a million. No reason not to

Overreacting and over crediting a coach who has no more experience than those coming in. Lesley was the DC period last year and Addea was title only. Guarante. Addae has looked for a job evry year since arriving. Coaches come and coaches go. 3 more years we will be looking for new HC.

Yeah, and you'll be first in line claiming you never wanted Brown and always said he should be let go when it finally happens. We'll maybe second behind lying troll Allen.

Seems like its you and your cronies who are the midol needing whiners, making up excuses as to why Addae like so many others have bailed on the experiment at HC.

For those who've left, both players and coaches, they are simply looking out for their best interest and jumping from the sinking ship.

The defensive staff without Koenning has been the best under the new coach, was far better than it was under Koenning in every stat. But it wasn't as good as the previous staffs D overall.

Losing Addae was a big loss along with some others. WVU needs to go out and lure a top notch D coordinator, especially since Brown's game philosophy is keep the score as low as possible so WVU doesn't need any offense.

Some people simply cannot stay on topic, and talk sports.

Would like for trolls to stop littering the forum with garbage posts. Respect the fact that this is a WVU forum, and talk WVU sports.

There's a forum on this site already setup for trolls, and non-sports contributors.

STFU...you were rambling on about Michigan sports last week right here....and you....you created the famous mega troll thread for tvz that you were all so proud of....so don't act like you are on some noble quest all of the sudden.

The only thing worse than a liar is a hypocrite...and you have that roll down pat.

And even worse...no one here cares about your michigan opinion on WVU sports...

You have anymore homophobic jokes to tell. The last one you told in the tvz thread is locked now....no one can enjoy it.

I'll consider donating when home ticket prices vs TTU aren't $30 more than TN @ Bama.

Those stadiums hold 20K-40K more people compared to Milan and are consistently sold out... They also have much larger donors bases, higher % Alums donate, and an overall wealthier donor base.

We as fans must do more then simply buying season tickets or a couple home game tickets every year. We need a higher % of fans participating in donating to the MAC, even if its just $21 per month. If just 100K people donate just $21 per month thats $25MILLION+ per year more for us to compete at the highest/higher levels with bringing+keeping talent to Morgantown. An extra $10-$20mill per year would definitely be a significant step forward and raise the quality for our coaches, recruiters, support staff, analyst, facilities, etc.

We should always ask other WVU fans are they donating to the MAC, if we want to seriously compete, we have to give them the tools to do so. Money dont always equate to wins, but as many disadvantages as WVU has compared to other blue bloods, we need to exhaust every option to help level the playing field and mitigate the negative effects of the disadvantages that cant be resolved.

Fans don't understand WVU needs money to operate. Larger donations mean more money for assistant coaches salaries and then some. Would help if we had some big time billionaire donors. But WVU dosen't have enough of those to go around. Small state with smaller businesses means smaller business donations. Every dollar counts for schools like WVU.

Perhaps college coaches should have a maximum minimum salary cap. As well as presidents and AD'S.

The MAC was requesting more money to hold your seats than what season tickets cost. For example, the MAC wanted 1500 to "save" your seats in the 125 section. Season tickets would cost less than 500. This was back in 2002.
