That's the problem. Jan's offense isn't going to get great guards to join Iowa.

Jans offense?

We don't know what Jans offense is yet.

She has adapted her team to the players she has. Just like Lisa did.

I am willing to bet Jans offense looks more like Lisa"s. A post player/developer knows better than you and I that a posts production depends on guard play.

Really surprised by that move. Her parents moved to Iowa. I wonder if her compensation package was going to be reduced based on her play this year. Maybe she was told Stremlow would be starting at CG next year.

I really liked Addie, I'm bummed.
My thoughts too, FWIW. Sorry to see her go, but I don't think she was mishandled here.

30% of Deal's shots were airballs!
OK, a slight exaggeration. 😁
I'm 2 for 2 so far in my predictions.
She probably was the team leader in 3pt air ball attempts.....

I think she's the type of player that needs extended time to get into the flow of the game - unfortunately that didn't happen this year and she's moving on........She'll be valuable addition to a team somewhere.

If the guards are good enough to be the focal point of the offense, they will be. Quit starting a BS narrative to fit your BS bias against the coach.

Deal was probably told they were looking to bring in some experienced talent. Teams aren't going to wait for talent to develop anymore.

Deal proved to be a developmental player. Is what it is.

This isn’t good no matter how you feel about how Deal played.
These days...it's no big whoop IMO. I looked forward to her playing here in future years and think she has a good future...but there will probably be 50 other players to take her place.

It's not like she was a lock down defender averaging 20 points a game or anything.

yeah, I have to agree, she did show flashes, but she struggled most of the time. First thing she should do is get in better shape.

I was looking forward to her off-season development, guess not. But JMHO
Wrong on all counts. You don’t score 20 pts against OSU and nit have that potential. Terribly mishandled by Jan. But hey it’s a program where you have to pay your dues.

Just disappointing to me because I was still hoping she would develop. I guess she fell out of love with Iowa in a hurry though. I just hope Iowa does not experience ISU transfer numbers. If so, then the coach(es) could be a problem?

Because we saw her play. Go watch that California stretch. She looked outclassed. I’m sorry to see her go but she was an overrated prospect. Paying her 5* money this year would have been malpractice. If she still wanted that type of money, then Iowa is better off spending it on more proven talent.

This is shortsighted and wrong. She has so much more talent than TS. But she wasn’t developed nor played in a style that leveraged her. At her best this year she was far ahead of TS. Jan didn’t maximize it.

Have to say the optics are bad, but at the same time I dont feel like she's a huge loss. I was underwhelmed by her athleticism. Expected a 5 star at her position to be quicker and more explosive.

This also confirms what I posted earlier about it being too early to know if Jan is the right coach. One more early NCAA exit and there will be some tough discussions needed to be made or risk killing all the momentum.

Optics can be pretty important in recruiting.

This may or may not be true.

But right now the roster has only guards and no wing players unless you count MW as a wing.

Jan has to hit some homeruns with the portal or Iowa will struggle a bit.

But I also don’t think Iowa wants to be a program that heavily relies on the portal. That’s a recipe for disaster
