It doesn't seem like there are any rules anymore. And frankly if she or her parents said we changed our minds, what could Jan do? Force her to come in, not wanting to be here?
She gets zero money if she doesn’t step on campus. Where exactly are you getting your info from. Seems rumor mill than fact based.

The only players I absolutely want to return

Ava
Chit Chat
Journey
Stremelow (preferably as a role player)

The rest can walk as far as I’m concerned.

Hit the portal hard and get some solid lower level players wanting to step up levels. A few shooters and couple big athletes.

You would have been the guy in 87 saying we don't need Lohaus.

Levin will be a very good depth piece.

This isn't horrible in isolation but it's more disturbing coming off a season that ended the way it did as a possible canary in the coal mine.

Exactly. This is the ;point after all. This isn't going on in a vacuum. Poster says he had several conversations with Deals parents and they felt Jan misled them. Then we hear Jans comment about Journey basically playing out of position to what she wanted and expected. Sounds like there's a disconnect between Jan and the players. I guess those "coffee" meetings she has with them are getting much done.

I never said she had decommitted, I said this could be a concern. She couldn't be too impressed with all this, especially if there are numerous other departures, not to mention the way we collapsed late in the season. I hope she didn't watch much of that UCLA A-- whooping in the conference tourney.

Hiring an established coach after Bluder retired might have been a good idea?

If the rumors are indeed true, JJ's leash for next season might be pretty short.

Are you asking me my thoughts on a strawman scenario you just invented? I understand its shocking news and ppl are panicking, but what is the point of fretting about that?

McKenna is her friend, that doesn't mean she's a lemming that will mindlessly follow her out because Deal couldn't cut it. IF that happens, then sure we need to start asking questions. Until then, what are you doing?
I'd be more concerned about how that conversation between Deals and MW's parents went. (According to the ;poster who talked to them). They felt like Jan "misled them". Then there's the multiple defections, (it would appear), the crap way we played in BOTH UCLA games. (We looked unable to even compete in those games). Remember it was another parent (Bjorns Dad who put Mckenna's dad). on to Iowa in the first place. Maybe he considers all this information.

You may want to reread your original post. Stated as more of future fact than individual conjecture.

I would agree, but she’s not a must keep player

in this new world of NIL free agency rosters are going to flip like this every year
I would argue she will be the glue player of the next 2 seasons. She is willing to work hard and be fully invested.

You seem like you might be a family member or a close friend. When we lost ER the team lost the ability to drive to the basket consistently. That really hurt the team because there was very little opportunity to break down the defense and cause open shooters.

???? "Drive to the basket consistently" What? She played like one game (early in the year) where she showed something. The rest of her time was meh.. Never played in a B1G game. So your saying she'd have done that against UCLA, USC, Michigan, etc...?

So none of this is on deal? Who struggled with her weight, her handles, her quickness? Deal wasn’t the real deal and she expected the keys to be handed to her, you earn the keys.

Are you related to John Wooden?? You seem to be positive that you are the greatest basketball mind currently working today!!! We’re soooooo lucky to have you here!

MW and Deal know each other but aren’t necessarily friends. One played in the LA area and the other in San Jose.

Knowing Jan, she’ll still be forcing the inside passes and not making crooks play defense
I mean I get trying to leverage Ava as much as possible. She’s great. But it seemed like JJ had no other options offensively. I worry JJ over relies on one player (Lucy, Ava) cause she doesn’t have a creative or free-flowing offense with balance.

There is another transfer happening too. Deal isn’t the last one.

If it’s indeed Houston or Hays who leave next are people still going to defend Jan?

Bases on JJs postgame comments after VA…gotta be Houston. Almost positive.

I think it is pretty clear that it will be Hays. Journey's dad said she is coming back.

Sure. Reasonable statement. But there’s a bigger picture that unfortunately will become even more troubling over the next 24 hours.

I mean, if it is Ava Heiden I vote we need a new staff.

Have seen friendlier comments back in the day. But this is NIL

Meh. That's the thing about buying any player merchandise nowadays.

There's zero loyalty outside of what you're getting paid, now.

You either need to be a fan of a player.............OR..............a fan of a team.

You can "root" for the players on that team in a particular year, but you need to stop being shocked when some of those players aren't there the following year.

I don't feel sorry for anyone that wastes their money on "player-specific merch". I get it, that it's an impulse buy because your children talked you into it, but it should be understood from an early age that players come and go, especially in college as they are supposed to only get 4-5 years. And with the way things are today, it's more like "one-year rentals with the option to renew annually"..............

Unless you or your child can be in control of their emotions enough not to get devastated when a player, whose shirt you bought, leaves after a single season, then I'd recommend people stick to buying TEAM merchandise.

Lasts much longer......or at least you hope it would.

🙂

I hadn’t paid attention but it was pointed out by a poster in the lounge that the only teammates that have commented on Addie leaving are Kennise,Teagan and Callie.
