I'm not a fan of Adou. Him nor Z would give Pope the time of day when they were both already here and knew Pope needed players.
Don't hate on the players. Blame grown people but not kids.
NIL has changed everything it's about dog eat dog now, no such thing as a blue blood school anymore.
EDIT Don't be delusional and think any different. Those players that Cal took with him went to KY for him not the school.

Boogie Fland declared a couple days ago. Curious to see if DJ hangs around and what Knox does. Knox is a big one for them.
Yeah they must get Richmond and Knox back, DJ would be preferable for them as well but we all know Cal rarely gives a starting guard one year let alone two. Richmond and Knox were the type players that killed us. Huge upside In year 2 only to get not drafted and play in the G-League.

Really like the kid. Hope his eternal motor makes him a lot of money in the NBA.

If arkansas fans really thought he was coming back. They are absolutely insane. They darn lucky he even came there. And not the nba.

Makes room for Ament plus have the incoming swing from overseas coming in.
With Thomas and Acuff coming in could be a interesting year.
Could use on true big man with some meat on the bones because it's looking like rugby under the goal now.

😂 Ament should go anywhere in America besides Arkansas. Cal doesn’t do well with his type - the 3/4 wing.

This is rule #1 to maintaining sanity with Cal as your coach. There are other rules, but this one is the most important.

Its just easier to assume everyone is leaving. First few years I got hopes up too many times for players like teague to leave.

I am curious what he's gonna do with the roster situation. He might have a log jam at the guard spot so I'm curious what Wagner does.

No no. These “kids” are grown adults making millions now. They lost any right to be coddled or protected once they started getting paid.

Always loved Thiero’s hustle and physical style of play. I wish he would have stayed with us last year. Wasn’t a great shooter but he had a level of physicality and athleticism that we were missing a bit of. Shouldn’t be a problem this next year for us, though.

I wish him the best and he’ll always be a Cat in my eyes. He will have a tough path to making an NBA roster long term but he has potential.
He's going to be a solid NBA player for years. He's the best of the under the radar Cal guys. He will flourish in the league.

I just don't see any NBA taking him. He can't shoot and the only reason he scored what he did this year was because he drove to the basket out of control and got bailed out numerous times by very bad officiating. He will be playing overseas is my guess. It is nothing personal at all. The NBA is full of 6-6 6-7 guys, but most of them can make the outside shot.

Cal is nothing near the coach I would of went after but it was his friend the chicken man that footed the bill.

Our coach the Muss Bus was in about the same boat as Cal.
Fans had loss faith and he had burnt his relationship with the AD and boosters.

We did save yall about 30M on a buyout if he got fired.

My pick for a new coach would of been Grant McCasland.

Only 25 percent from behind the arc last season. That hurts but Chuck Hayes was about as poor a shooter and did okay in the NBA.
Yeah his shot needs work but that aint gonna get any better in college and he's ready in every other way for the move up. Think this hurts the Hogs as he was tough to deal with this past year with his athletic ability and physicality along with his new agressiveness attacking the basket.

If that happens nothing I can do about it. The chicken man likes him a foots the bill so nothing I can do.
AAAANNNDDDD there it is!!
Welcome to what used to be our world for the past 5 years at UK.
We were stuck with Cal and there was NOTHING that we could do about it. Cal is a good recruiter, but there is a boatload of BS that comes with him, and nothing anyone can do about it, other than pay him.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking that headache away from us.

What kind of roster does cal have? Seems like he needs players
He'll get his 8 rotation players and fill the rest of the roster with buddies kids. That's all Cal wants to deal with for playing time. Notice how Arkansas got better when they had fewer players? Cal CANNOT manage a roster full of good players. He proved that in 2015.

Then we need a lot of players really quick we only have 4 coming in so far.
If you can make it in the NBA you got to go.
Probably going to loose at least one more.
Problem with Kal is his players that are fringe 1st round or 2nd round go regardless and a lot like that never make it in the NBA.. They'll bounce around for couple so years in the G league then never to be heard from again.. He's put so many good players in the league that the tweeners feel like they have to go also.. That and he recruits over them yearly..

You would expect the marketing team at Arkansas to at least script a letter for him with proper grammar. Alas, tis not so.

It seems to be in his best interest to take the NIL $ for at least another year, but it’s not my life.

Best part about Pope over Cal to me is being able to put together a roster and manage that roster. Cal just took "best available" player and would end up with glaring weaknesses and 4 guys with the exact same skill set. Then he had to manage 4 guys playing 2 positions when those 4 are top 6 on the team. LOL.

Thiero met with Hubie Davis in Lexington before cal left iirc

At Malone's during lunchtime no less.

In years past Cal would run players like Knox and Richmond out. Just curious if with NIL he might change. If he would have held some guys like that here I think we would have done much better!!

Absolutely. You can tell soon as he left he changed his approach. No way z would've been at UK another year had cal not left.

Dj just doesn't have much choice but he also got screwed by cal last year when cal brought in davis and fland pushing dj off the ball. Dj is a decent pg now and they got way better once he went back to pg.

We will have Wagner, Brazile, Knox and DJ back.
Acuff and Thomas coming in. Both top 10 in a loaded class.

Pringle and Ewin looks done.

1 more big and 1 shooter out of the portal.

Thats 10 plus the 6ft7 local wing that is being over looked.

We should be ready to rock and roll out of the gate next year.

I'm sure you meant Richmond, but I just have a very hard time believing Knox will return. He was also a year older than his high school class so he'll be 20 at the time of the draft (9 days younger than Wagner). Plus he shot 43% on 3s in the second half of the season.

Yes Richmond and Knox is coming back and will be starting from day 1. Cal will be depending on two freshmen next year.
We need a shooter and one more big to back up Brazille. And apparently there is money left for them.

Keeping those 4 are huge.

Hell, I'd want to get out of Fayetteville too.

Best of luck, Adou. You were a great one. 🫡
He just had his best year by far, on draft boards, and has had a couple of injuries. Had nothing to do with leaving Fayetteville. If he didn't like his coach, he would not have followed him. Smart decision by him, I hope he sticks in the NBA. VERY poor mans D-Wade, same build, physical game, all round game. Obviously needs to work on the 3FG %. Wade wasn't a good 3 point shooter in college. Not saying he is in D-Wades league, but always reminded me of him watching him. Solid 2 way player who can pass, rebound, defend, as well as score.
