........the SEC right now, hands down. Winning a road game at either Auburn or Vandy would be difficult even under better circumstances for MSU, but this particular MSU team lags way behind everyone else in the SEC in overall talent and experience. The worst area is clearly on the lines, especially the OL. If you can't get a push against a SWAC d-line, and you have to hold a lot, then you're not doing it against any team in the SEC or any other decent 1-A team. I also still noticed an obvious lack of "swagger" that was also absent during Croom's tenure. Bad news for a team that needs to change a losing culture.
This poll should have included at least the first six games. I'd predict MSU to be 1-5 after those first six. It's an easy bet. The only possible win left on the schedule this year is MTSU, and that won't be a gimme on the road. Seriously, you can't legitimately argue there's another game on the schedule(besides maybe MTSU) that MSU should win. I'd be a little more optimistic about their chances if I'd seen something more against JSU, but I believe that the JSU game exposed(yet again) a severe deficiency in talent at most positions. Ths reality is that this is another "rebuilding" project, a never-ending situation at MSU.
