I voted for 2-2, so color me "wooley"

I just don't have any respesct for Vandy. They were a smoke and mirrors team last year. No way they pull off 6 wins this year.

I actually watched most of the Auburn-La. Tech game while watching the Vandy-W. Carolina as well. I am MORE worried about Vandy than Auburn. WE have a chance to beat Auburn by 2-touchdowns...the Vandy game...I would be surprised if we stay within 2-touchdowns.....Auburn is VERY BEATABLE even if they improve. La. Tech gave them 2-gifts on there end of the field.....Auburn had issues with Livas all night, if Relf and Dixon show up....Auburn is BEAT!!
Vandy on the other hand....handled a decent W. Carolina team ....WITH EASE........

We have not offense. Relf will not be able to run against an SEC defense. I really hope we were hiding something yesterday

You sound like you are certain of this? I was impressed with what I saw form the guy yesterday. I understand it was Jackson State, but based on his performance yesterday, I'm going to hodl out before saying he can't do something.

Question is, will it be good enough? We will have Dixon back, which will help of course. And, I'm certain we did not exactly open up the playbook yesterday. For all the talk, Mullen knew there was no way we were going to lose or even struggle to win yesterday. The OL didn't look particularly great, though, which is a little alarming.

But, the DB's concern me greatly. JSU had folks running wide open all over the place. I think our front 7 will be ok.

...but I also think Mullen held a good bit of the playbook back yesterday. He knew he could pound the ball down JSU's throat and eventually wear them down, and that is what happened. I am concerned about the secondary though. JSU receivers seemed to be open all day

It was a SWAC team. Now that said, we did not stunt or blitz (per Torbush post game interview), so we will surprise AU on defense with that added. I am sure that we did not show that much of our offense yesterday, but our kicker has to bring his A game every game from here on out (hope he had the jitters), and our defensive backfield and out offensive line are our biggest concerns. Yesterday is a very hard game to judge our talent level, but I am going with the negative side of things because that is the safe bet. Everybody played better opponents yesterday with expected results, but I thought we would hang 50+ points on JSU offensively. We only put up 31 on them, and I thought Bumphis would have had more touoches, but I am sure that we are saving some plays for this week. I guess I was expecting too much too fast.

Even on defense. Very few blitz packages from the linebackers and backfield.

The question mark is like costanza said will it be enough to overcome that gap and I'm just not sure it will. Our Oline will have trouble with a more physical defense.

are the two best chances to win an SEC game on our schedule back to back. I just wish Vandy was at home. If we are 1-3 after 4 games then 3 wins will be difficult. I really just hope we don't go 0-8 in SEC play.

...but you can't conclude that our o-line is "bad bad bad." We ran for 200 yards. At worst, you can say that the jury is still out, but I don't see how you could say they were bad.

And if they looked bad against JSU, I shudder to think what they'll look like against I-A defensive lines. Hopefully Tobias Smith will be back soon and will be able to stay healthy (not to mention actually be able to play).</p>

I guess we were not watching the same game. You can't look at stats against Jackson State and draw a conclusion.

....but the backs had gaping holes to run though, and I don't remember either qb getting pressured all that much. Maybe I am wrong.

....200 + yards against JSU means nothing, but I don't see how you could conclude that they were bad. I think the jury is still out.

Unless Tobias is going to be moved to RT, then our right side will continue to be poor. Lawrence played horrible versus the worst defensive front he will see all season.

I always thought Relf would take over the starting QB position for ya'll because he could run, but is he thick?

Can he hold up to the pounding of SEC ball running it 10-12 times a game?

Get your mind out of the gutter, son. We see through your thinly-veiled homoerotic front like an old nightgown.

Don't really know where you're going there chief. It' s a simple question, I can't help it if the first thing that pops into your mind is some homoerotic fantasy, that sounds like you've got some deep seeded sexual fantasies you need to talk to your psychiatrist about not me.

I judge our performance against JSU on the first half only. JSU had no discipline and we had the ball on a short field for most of the half and could only put up 14 points to a SWAC defense. Our defense gave up too many big plays in the secondary that will result in touchdowns against any SEC team. With that being said Relf won't run all over auburn, too much speed and won't run on Vandy because they are the best coached team in the conference and are very disciplined. Our next 5 games won't be pretty.

For some reason I was under the assumption he was around 210. If he's that big he may very well be able to handle the full grind of the SEC.

........the SEC right now, hands down. Winning a road game at either Auburn or Vandy would be difficult even under better circumstances for MSU, but this particular MSU team lags way behind everyone else in the SEC in overall talent and experience. The worst area is clearly on the lines, especially the OL. If you can't get a push against a SWAC d-line, and you have to hold a lot, then you're not doing it against any team in the SEC or any other decent 1-A team. I also still noticed an obvious lack of "swagger" that was also absent during Croom's tenure. Bad news for a team that needs to change a losing culture.

This poll should have included at least the first six games. I'd predict MSU to be 1-5 after those first six. It's an easy bet. The only possible win left on the schedule this year is MTSU, and that won't be a gimme on the road. Seriously, you can't legitimately argue there's another game on the schedule(besides maybe MTSU) that MSU should win. I'd be a little more optimistic about their chances if I'd seen something more against JSU, but I believe that the JSU game exposed(yet again) a severe deficiency in talent at most positions. Ths reality is that this is another "rebuilding" project, a never-ending situation at MSU.
