I looked at some name teams and their schedules for the last 2 years...</p>

1. Dook- played @Michigan, @Purdue, @Xavier (who HD called a mid-major and below us), @Temple, and @Ill- AND @Davidson
2. Boston College- @ St Louis, @Umass
3. North Carolina- @Nevada, @ Penn, @Rutgers
4. Notre Dame- @Loyola-Marymount, neutral court- Baylor, GaTech, and Kansas St
5. Villanova- @Penn, @LaSalle, @Temple, LSU- neutral court
6. Mich State- @IPFW (I dont even know who this is), @Bradley

So BC will play a home and home with St Louis but not us?
Penn can get NC and Villanova on their home floor, but we can't?
Loyola-Marymount can get Notre Dame across the country but we can't?
Dook will go to mid-majors like Davidson and Xavier but not us? (aGAIN, HD said Xavier was a mid-major and not as relevant as us)

We can get teams to play in Starkville, the effort just has to be there. This "nobody will play us" ******** is just that...all you need to know about upgrading the schedule comes from 2008- when we upgraded with Clemson- loss, S. Illinois- loss, Miami- loss, Miami-OH- loss...Stansbury wants the candies to pad the wins, plain and simple</p>

on the home court of a Big 12, Pac 10 or SEC school. That actually tells me more than anything.

I determined that you still don't get it.

I'm not even going to bother addressing the truth-stretching of some of those games you are considering road games, not to mention taking into account where some of those schools are located in the country. (hint: not a rural college town).

We cannot just schedule whoever the freak we want for a home and home. We are not and will never play a one-off road game like we're Belmont. Just get the eff over it. It isn't going to happen. This is what you always do - you create some impossible situation, and when it doesn't happen, you then ***** about it like we could've done something about it.

I also believe that Duke "at" Davidson was in Charlotte at the NBA arena. And those Nova games in Philly are the traditional Big Five matchups. Most of them were probably played at Wachovia Center. Apparently Coach needed more than 20 minutes of research.

<font color="#0000FF">Michigan must have been scheduled Amaker was their coach. It's one of those coach-player games. Duke is, well, Duke. They play who they want to, and when and where they want.</font>

2. Boston College- @ St Louis, @Umass

<font color="#0000FF">And what were their RPIs? Let's see. St. Louis 123, UMass 152.</font>

3. North Carolina- @Nevada, @ Penn, @Rutgers

<font color="#0000FF">Penn RPI last year 259, Rutgers 196, Nevada 83.

5. Villanova- @Penn, @LaSalle, @Temple, LSU- neutral court

<font color="#0000FF">Have you ever heard of the Big Five? The five major basketball-playing schools in Philadelphia play each other (that is, all D-I except for Drexel) each year.</font>

just as Stansbury said about this season- they obviously "thought their RPI's would be better than they were based on the previous season"...

Just more excuses...All this **** is going to play out starting in 2010-2011, when Byrne has had some time to start adding better teams to the schedule. You can damn well bet that schedule wont be as ****** as this coming season's will be. aGAIN, Slive and Byrne agree with my side- you tools can spout anything you want. Things are going to change in the future.

Houston had 24 wins the prior year, Wash St had 26 wins, Texas tech 16 wins, South Alab had 26 wins, along with Cinci and WKU is a pretty good schedule. Some of the teams we have scheduled have fallen off the year we have played them. You act like all we play is ULM or Jackson St. We don't play Duke or UNC but who cares. I would say that beefing up the schedule with maybe one more game like a Oregon or Washington or Gonzaga would be good. It would give us a national ESPN type game that could generate some hype. If we would have won 22 or 23 games with our schedule last year before the SECT, we would have been sitting at a 2, 3, or 4 seed probably.

There's always more to it. I'm stopping at two games you listed because I'm starting to get the picture.

<span style="font-weight: bold;">As for MSU @ IPFW:</span>

Fort Wayne is just over a two hour drive south of East Lansing. It was a 2 for 1. and from the game notes:
<br style="font-style: italic;"> <span style="font-style: italic;">Izzo, who agreed to play at Fort Wayne because he is friends with Fife, whom he tried to recruit when he was in high school, said he hopes it was a good experience for his team as they travel to Orlando, Fla., to play in the Old Spice Classic then play top-ranked North Carolina in Detroit.</span>

<span style="font-weight: bold;">As for UNC @ Penn:</span>

Penn plays in the Palestra, commonly called the Cathedral of College Basketball. Roy Williams took Kansas to play there in 1998, and to quote the game notes: <span style="font-style: italic;">"I love coming to places like this," Williams said. "I'm corny and old-fashioned, but I enjoy venues like this."</span> Oh, and it was a 2 for 1 as well.

point is, those games happened. Does Stansbury not have any friends at bigger programs he could play? We are the SEC West champs by God. Its really hard for me to believe we are the most feared team in college basketball when Auburn can get Pitt to do a H&H....it just makes no sense

They generally suck and are no better than playing New Orleans or Nichols State. Another cruddy example by you.

Edited to add: What kind of douchbag sack of monkey turd of a fan mocks his own school for winning its division almost every year? Are you mentally challenged or just really get off on getting on folks nerves?

not to long ago, and they won the Big 12 this year, or Big 12 Tournament. I wasn't paying much attention, but they had Mike Anderson throw at the first pitch at a Cardinals game when I was up there this past weekend, and they were flashing "Big 12 Champs" on the scoreboard.

I know from my Dad being from Missouri that they claim themselves as a "basketball school", even though they are not a Carolina or a Duke. They also have a big rivalry with Kansas in basketball to.

you try to equate winning the West in basketball to being as successful as winning it in football or baseball. Last time:

Winning the West in football= top 10 usually
Winning the West in baseball-= top national seed

Winning the West in basketball???? An 8 or 9 seed in the Tourney

Making the Tourney isnt enough anymore- hell, the 7th place team from the Big East makes the Tourney. Its time to advance. Better RPI= better chance to advance

Auburn has won only one SEC divisional title and regular season championship since expansion and largely perceived as a patsy (relatively speaking of course). Of course teams such as Pittsburgh are willing to schedule them. MSU on the other hand has six divisional titles, one regular season championship, and three tournament titles-- meaning MSU is no patsy.1

__________
1And it's work like this that earned Coach34 a shot at the DDDY Crown. I almost want Ole Miss Grad to be unbanned so he can provide us with more examples of his Derek Dunn-esque prose.

Winning the West in basketball???? An 8 or 9 seed in the Tourney
Could someone please find out how often the winner of the West has gotten an 8 or 9 seed. I know it happened this year and two or three years ago when LSU got an 8 (09) and we got a 9 (07 or 08). I could be wrong, but I think the West winner generally gets a higher seed. Could someone please show if this is a case of Coach's usual tactic of finding the worst case scenario and extrapolating it out to be the truth for every instance or if this is more common than I realize?

Regardless of what winning the West gets you in regards to the postseason, back to Hamnu's point, what kind of fan continuously ***** on his school's accomplishments like you do?

Same song, different verse. Coach will never give us any credit until we get past the sweet 16 and then if we lose, he'll simply say we are poorly coached and should have won the National Title. It will never change. I guess when Coach K and Roy Williams apply for the MSU job, he'll be happy but I hate to tell him, it ain't gonna happen.

1Edited to note that this is Germans. Scooba does excellent work as always.

2Arkansas received an at-large bid as a 12-seed

Taking the 10 west teams that made the NCAA, and ONLY won the west (since that is being debated)
we sum together the 10 teams for 50 , which of course is an average of 5.

*edit* Changing from 11 teams summed for 55
Removing the Alabama (05) from the tabulation, in order to leave LSU (6..higher seed)
in order to only have one team represented per year.
Still comes up the same.
*edit the edit* Aghh..silence is golden.

We need to upgrade the schedule. There is no real downside to doing so. And I don't know why y'all are on him about winning the West not meaning much for seeding. The last seven West champs (five years) have been seeded 5, 6, 4, none, none, 8, and 8. There were a lot of top four seeds the previous 10-15 years, but the trend the last five years is definitely on the way down. That's why the schedule upgrade is needed. Winning the West, while fun and something I love doing, does not bring with it much respect nationally or in the microchips that spit out RPIs.

I agree. I agree totally...on the fact that we need to upgrade the schedule. But this is most certainly a turdworthy thing he has done since he chose to use some of the absolute shittiest examples to back up his ad naus view.
His greater message is lost because he is a total douche and uses horrible reasoning to back up his message. He is the Ann Coulter of SixPack. On the rare time when he has a good point, its ignored because of how he states it or how he backs it up, or just because how its come from him.

Ann frigginCoulter i tell ya.

I posted the last 3 years, which nobody can argue are the most relevant, because they represent the current trend. The last 3 West champions have been left out, 8 seed, 8 seed...there is nothing great about that
