1. LSU - Their defense looked like a top tier NFL defense against a good offensive team. They won 40-27, but 10 Oregon points were short drive/garbage so it was worse than the score indicated. LSU's weakness is a solid offense. Their defense has no weakness.
2. Alabama - Not to be outdone, Bama's defense looked stout as well, albeit against subpar competition.
3. Arkansas - The offensive fireworks continue for Arkansas. Their defense may turn out to be a little better than last year.
4. Mississippi State - Not being a homer. Based on first week impressions, I put us fourth in the SEC. That just happens to be fourth in the West as well. Still some questions on defense, as Memphis got some yards on the ground. Fletcher Cox returning may help that, but not enough to move us above any of the teams above us yet.
5. Florida - Gators looked good and look to return to the top of the East.
6. South Carolina - The offense sputtered until the Spaniard came in, but the defense looked like crap. They may win next week because Georgia is just really bad, but that game against South Carolina doesn't worry me near as much anymore.
7. Tennessee. Vols still have some issues, but they are better than the rest of the bottom of the SEC.
8. Georgia. They suck worse than last year. I could see them starting 1-5. Yes, Ole Miss can beat them.
9. Auburn - Going to be a long year on the plains. Starting next week. Remember that flack that guy on here gave me by saying there was no chance we lose to Auburn - this is why. They were lucky to beat a 4-8 WAC team with an 18 year old quarterback from rural Washington state. Relf and Ballard are going to make grown men cry next week.
10. Ole Miss - Only below Auburn because they lost. BYU is decent, but they aren't a BCS buster. Ole Miss' defense is greatly improved. They can get to 6 wins. Ole Miss-UGA will be a "winner gets to a bowl/loser is 5-7" game.
11. Vanderbilt - Didn't watch any of their game, but Vandy scoring 45 points is better than what Kentucky did.
12. Kentucky - Horrible garbage.
