A. As bad as Relf and Lee are, our offense is very much improved. We have a good system in place and only recruiting will make us better. Keep the 2 QB system, let Relf slowly get better, and hope like hell we sign Newton and 2 juco's for the OL

B. We have ****** players on defense and we had a ****** plan last night. We need to say "17 it" and just blitz, blitz, blitz and hope for the best. Croom really left us a gaping hole here to overcome, but Torbush aint helping himself with plans like last night. We need a juco CB and another juco DL at the very minimum

C. Our Special Teams are so much better than at any time in the last 5-6 years. Thank you Dan Mullen

D. We can play with Vandy and could possibly pull one out.

E. We are progressing as a program, thats obvious, but we got to get better players. Mullen did that in his 1st class, and will continue to do so. By year 3, we will have overcome the Sylvester Crooms Error

Coach, if your a coach you should know we were beat after their first drive. D coach did not do his homework on their offense. They used same formation the whole night. The only sucess we had was when they stood up and received a different play from sideline.

He's been a very successful DC in the past, but that was back when nobody ran the spread. His record against a lot of spread offenses at Texas A&M was bad and he's not off to a good start against the spread at MSU. Still, it's not all his fault though. When your best CB is Marcus Washington there's probably not a whole lot you can do against a decent passing offense.

I put this all on torbush.... there is no way our talent is THAT bad.....it's not good but it doesn't suck to the 400 yard degree.....

he is a proven failure coping with these types of offenses.....no way Tex A&M should have a defense that rivaled croom's offenes at MSU as far as rankings..... the proof is in the history... the man has not learned a god dammed thing obviously... he has no burning desire to excel...his best days are behind him and he will not make us any better than last night...someone needs to get involved that has modern ideas to un17 this ********...

I could care less about how vanilla the offense looked.... we went on the road against a quality SEC defense and put 24 on the board....(and yes I saw the blocked punt) we moved the chains for a change...

but trust me, our talent level is that bad. Outside of a few of Vandy's worst teams, we're the least talented SEC team I've ever seen. And certainly the least talented MSU team I've ever seen (I exclude the current recruits from that assessment, I think they will turn out to be a pretty good class for us). Our offensive coaches are getting the maximum possible out of the limited talent they have to work with. Our defensive coaches aren't doing the same. Unless there's some major improvement on that side of the ball, we need to be looking for a new DC in November.

I'm with you on that. I think it was we rushed six at the middle all night with the play going around the corner.Hence the reason cornerbacks are having to make tackles. We were beating the square peg into a round hole it was just on defense.

He did his homework and decided that the 335 would be best for us because Auburn was a "passing" team. Unfortunately for us, Auburn ran wild and he had no backup plan to combat what we were actually seeing on the field.

I think he did his homework too well. You have to be flexible and ready to adjust to anything and everything on the field. We didn't do that last night.

when you took a one point defeat and improved all the way to a 25 point loss. Neither team really added or lost that much, so the conclusion should be coaching. I think your offense most likely is a lot better, I just don't know how much you can tell from that one game, as both sides were under different situations. They weren't playing the small ball control offense like last year either, the scenarios were just totally different. You scored one offensive TD more than last year until the fourth quarter, which was basically garbage time.

I'm sure you are better offensively, but the twenty two steps back you took on defense may even that out. It's just hard to take much away from that one game. Though that's mostly true about all the games.

Like you said, we look better on offense- with many of the same crappy players.

We also looked better on ST's- we actually won the ST battle agaisnt AU for whatever that is worth.

And while we were worse on defense, at least I don't get this sinking feeling that unless something tragic happens, we are stuck with Torbush. Like we were with Woody. And at least Mullen acknowledges that the defense sucked instead of balming the entire loss on some random player like Derek Pegues. The first step to correcting a probolem- identifying it.

2. Auburn's QB are performing much better and their strengths are being used
3. We have less talent than we did in 2008- especially on the defensive side of the ball
4. Auburn has more equal if not more talent than they did in 2008

Your comparision to last year's score is worthless because the teams have changed rosters and coaches.

Our special teams are better and that's it. The jury is still out on the offense and we have definitely regressed on defense, in a major way. We are realistically looking at 1-11 or 2-10 (if we're lucky) this year. I don't think anyone here could have seen this bad of a defense coming. All the attention has been on the offense and we all expected a new fresh-looking gimmick offense that would be innovative and fun to watch, which in time it very well may be. But to say we have progressed at this point in time, when we just gave up 49 points to an Auburn team that didn't score 49 points all season last year, is a little koolaid-drinking wooly.

Malzahn was a hot prospect coming out of Tulsa whether you like it or not and I`m sure he has made some derogatory statement about Nutt that has you so livid about his getting a major gig like OC at Auburn. And I have zero hatred for Malzahn, he may turn out to be very good. But he has done nothing so far to prove that. Additionally, if he was such a hot prospect coming out of Tulsa, I wonder why no other school hired him, or even tried to as far as I know. Chizik was about the last coach hired, it was mid-december, and Malzahn wasn't until a few weeks later. In the college coaching carousel, that's pretty late. So you say he was a hot prospect, what teams went after him? I may very well be wrong, but I'd love you to actually show me with something factual, instead of just insisting he was. Again, I have nothing against the guy, and no, he hasn't said anything about Nutt that I'm aware of, and I wouldn't care if he did. But this mythical aura surrounding him simply has no basis in fact. Again, just show me a few teams that went after this hot prospect last year, and I'll at least give it to you that he was a hot prospect.

He did have the number ranked offense in the nation the past two years at Tulsa and I believe a Top 3 rushing offense at Arkansas. The guy has been a college assistant for all of three years - not bad results for three years.

I don't think the guy is the second coming or anything, but I don't see how anyone can deny that he is a damn good offensive coordinator. He certainly has a bright future ahead of him.

I didn't see the entire game as I was switching between the State-AU, UGA-S Car and SC-OSU. But, it appeared to me MSU's main problem was talent, especially on defense. Both Ole Miss and State hired bumbling idiots for head coaches. We are very fortunate in that our bumbling idiot left us in much better shape.
