Lost most of his team and we are playing a weak non-conference but they are dominating.

Up 63-36 over USM.

I have zero clue about how nil and portal work on the women's sports. In fact, as a student, I dont understand flipping around every year. Looking at last year's roster, a fair number were out of eligibility, yes? I see okot ended up at the Gamecocks and powe went to the rabbles. Did he run those 2 off?

I like that he's been able to bring in some good ones. Nwaedozi and Madison are really fun pick ups. I just hope he can keep the core and build, instead of rebuild.

LSU is paying Johnson $1.5 mill. I am sure Okot made a significant pay raise to play for South Carolina.

It’s safe to say he did not run those two off.
We’re a farm team until something changes.

And yes, the coaching staff deserves a ton of credit for a great job so far.

He has a good class coming in next season as well…
meanwhile Vic beat 13th ranked Baylor by 35 points today. #ThanksCohen
Remember when we all thought he might leave for aTm when Gary blair retired? Who knew he would run to the tsips at the start of covid. Ugh.

Schedule shows they've beaten nobody worth mentioning though. Let's see what happens when conference play gets here. I think it's going to be pretty rough

No he did not run them off. He was blindsided by Okot. A person showed up claiming to be her uncle and brainwashed her. Powe got $$ from Ole Miss.

This right here!!! Until we get an AD who understands finances and allocation of money, we are a farm team. Sam knows we have to retain our freshmen after this season and spend what we can in the portal.

Women’s basketball should be way down the list on allocation.
It’s easily the most expensive woman's sport. So yeah. If you’re going to put anything into women’s sport, put a little into soccer or volleyball & be done with it.

Nwaedozi finished with 21 points and 23 rebounds today. That's not exactly a common stat line.

Purcell lost his 3 best players off last year's team, two with eligibility remaining. Yet he has this team playing at basically the same level as last year's team. The schedule hasn't been tough, but they've been winning by big margins. I think they'll have a solid SEC finish and a reasonable chance to make the big tournament again.

He's doing a nice job.

Spending money on women’s basketball would be ignorant given our financial situation. That sport bleeds money (for everyone). Hopefully our AD understands that and invests elsewhere
Tell me more about our alleged financial situation.

There is zero chance she is making 1.5mm. ZERO!!!
Word was Okot left for $500,000. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn a star somewhere was making $1.5MM.
It is preposterously out of whack, however, considering that’s 6 times the salary of the highest-paid WNBA player (not counting endorsements).

Its a strange issue, for certain. Top talent have the opportunity to make more in college than in the pros. The WNBA is run by morons that make the MAIS look competetent.

We have played one bad quarter all season and it resulted in a 7 point loss to an still undefeated Texas Tech team. We look like we will be a competitive NCAA tournament caliber team this year.

I haven't watched the women play that much but I have heard from more than a few State fans who admire his recruiting chops but are way less than impressed with his coaching ability. Anybody else share that opinion?

Funny thing about that TT game is the first qtr we looked as good as any WCBKB I've ever watched and turned around in the second and scored 2 points as I recall.

That was the narrative but I think at least some would say he's gotten better on the coaching side. First time head coach known for recruiting fits what you might expect.

Sam is a great dude. I'm glad that in-game coaching is starting to come together for him. He can recruit at a high level, and now I think we are seeing the coaching side develop.

I have shared this before, but the guy is an all-around good person who cares for those around him. I had a chance to meet him in Tupelo last year. I walked up and asked if I could get a picture with him and my 4-year-old girl. He not only took the photo but made her feel like she was 5 5-star recruit.

Up until this season, that’s been true. During his tenure, we’ve had a lot of REALLY talented players that were doing a lot of isolation/streetball style with very little cohesion. This year’s team is actually running plays and being successful doing it.

Schedule is perfect for this team with all the portals! We will be competitive in the Sec games. Purcel has some talent and some shooters.

Our football team started out 4-0 this season, and then........................
I looked at the SEC standings showing what all teams are doing in out of conference games to this point and there are 10 teams including us with just one loss. I wouldn’t get too excited right now.

We'll know a lot about this team pretty quickly in January.

An absolute must win at home vs Auburn, and it should be easy if they're going to be an NCAA team.

Then they've got 7 straight against likely NCAA teams that are all better than them on paper. 4 on the road. It could be a disaster of a start if they're not really ready to go.

We'll learn a lot about this team in the first half of the SEC schedule. After they open with Auburn, 6 of their next 7 games are against ranked opponents. The only unranked team in that stretch is 11-0 Alabama.

She left for $200,000……and that was after we thought we had her locked in for $75,000.

OK, so top 20% of the country.
Top 20% of the country should be almost a given. There are over 300 schools that play basketball. The majority of them schools even our worst teams should beat easily.
