That’s just the new normal, man. Better get used to it. We simply can’t compete with the BYUs and Alabamas of the world.i care because i want the best possible team and we are getting outrecruited by byu brochacho

Crazy to think a player that talented isn’t even projected to go #1 overall and may even fall to #3. This is going to be one of the most insane draft classes I’ve ever seen.
We actually overpaid for most of our roster. Clearly. Give 6m to AJ and pay less to tv guys we have who really aren’t doing that much. We’d be better offOut of our price range.
If we had wanted to land AJ Dybantsa and build solid around him we would have had to spend an insane total amount of money for the whole roster——like 15 million dollars or something.
Exactly my point. This class is stupid stacked. Imagine a wing/PF like Wilson or him with JQ/Oweh/Lowe. Now we are taking a serious contender.View attachment 1089631my goodness i wish we could've spent some of the 22m on him
Mark Pope to Kevin Young improvement sadly. Now to be fair they just started to really spend but you have to ask why when Pope was there they wouldn’t? I know Young is a buddy to the Jazz owner and he is who footed the bill for AJ so that makes sense.i hate byu, in the span of one season they went from jaxson robinson being one of their programs best players to aj dybantsa
So basically the cost of Kam William, Oweh, Garrison, and Jelly combined? I'd make that trade. Especially since it was Oweh's foul that led to Lowe being injured in the Blue/White game.I think I remember seeing his price tag for this season was $6mil
Word out there is that Oweh was $3 million, Garrison about $1.5 million, Jelly around $1 million, and Williams around $500,000.Out of our price range.

You do realize that Pope’s BYU predecessor ALSO had a better winning percentage than him there, right?Mark Pope to Kevin Young improvement sadly. Horrible take. Last year was the first year BYU , and most everyone else , spent big "nil" money on a team. It was timing, not the coach. Anyone with a brain knows that.Mark Pope to Kevin Young improvement sadly. Now to be fair they just started to really spend but you have to ask why when Pope was there they wouldn’t? Guys, we just need to accept that we couldn’t do any better than Mark Pope. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you can accept the new reality of modern Kentucky basketball. So just stop with the negativity and support our coach! You do realize that Pope’s BYU predecessor ALSO had a better winning percentage than him there, right?
And that was before NIL, so there’s no money explanation for it.
Darryn Peterson is the third guy in the No. 1 pick conversation, not Wilson.I’m not knocking Boozer, he is really damn good, but if a GM takes him over AJ or Wilson they will get fired.
Boozer?
Big donor “ponied up”.i hate byu, in the span of one season they went from jaxson robinson being one of their programs best players to aj dybantsa
In what pre nil world would the number 1 basketball recruit ever go to BYU? How many times did it happen before NIL? Now stop pretending to be a UK fan and stop trying to say Pope leaving is the reason they got him. All the trolls with agendas on this board are ridiculousDybansta would not have gone to BYU if Pope was still the coach there.
Money is not the problem for those kind of players.
Guys, JQ is good, but his offensive skill set is way behind the other players in this conversation. I would take any of them over JQ in the draft and that isn't saying any bad about JQ....they are just that good. This is an insane freshman class. Best I remember. And Cooper Flagg would have been in this class if he hadn't reclassified. Crazy talented class. He's a great one, I'll still go with Dybantsa, probably not as savvy as Boozer, but more athletic, and runs the floor better, can do it all.So can Boozer though, just slower.
I really want JQ to be in this conversation, he deserves it, just coming back and playing hard, off of ACL. Time will tell.
Now what are we betting![]()
Seems like a good investment to me.I think I remember seeing his price tag for this season was $6mil

I didn’t say that.In what pre nil world would the number 1 basketball recruit ever go to BYU? How many times did it happen before NIL? Now stop pretending to be a UK fan and stop trying to say Pope leaving is the reason they got him. All the trolls with agendas on this board are ridiculous
Yeah...that's kind of my whole point. We actually overpaid for most of our roster.
Yeah this was my point.Word out there is that Oweh was $3 million, Garrison about $1.5 million, Jelly around $1 million, and Williams around $500,000.
That comes out to AJ's asking price, and that's a trade I make every day of the week.
Hopefully this staff will have the guts to let a few guys walk after this season so we can bring in someone like Stokes instead of running a mediocre product back.
Worth every penny.I think I remember seeing his price tag for this season was $6mil
yeah 2.5 million on Jelly and BG? That’s another starting PG right there. Feels like we could have found a mid major Level big to give us what those two have most nights for 400k. BG been playing better and is a decent backup when he’s engaged and we needed him with JQ out. I feel like we vastly overpaid for a lot of guys who could have money used for pressing needs and more top end talent.Word out there is that Oweh was $3 million, Garrison about $1.5 million, Jelly around $1 million, and Williams around $500,000.

Rumor is Aberdeen got close to $3M. I’d trade him, BG and Jelly for AJ. Then again the numbers might still not matchup because I specifically remember some media member report that AJ was getting $8M this year. This was back in the summer. So basically the cost of Kam William, Oweh, Garrison, and Jelly combined? I'd make that trade. Especially since it was Oweh's foul that led to Lowe being injured in the Blue/White game.
C - JQ - Moreno - Potter
F - Mo D - AJ
F - AJ - Noah - Hawthorne
G - Aberdeen - Chandler - Johnson
G - Lowe - Aberdeen - Johnson
Pope had nil at byu.In what pre nil world would the number 1 basketball recruit ever go to BYU? How many times did it happen before NIL? Now stop pretending to be a UK fan and stop trying to say Pope leaving is the reason they got him. All the trolls with agendas on this board
No he wont be #1. Much slower and not as athletic. Ceiling isn't as high either. His max is #3 overall.Boozer?
BYU is going to be good at sports now thanks to NIL, it’s a rich alumni.i care because i want the best possible team and we are getting outrecruited by byu brochacho
