I hear what you are saying
Maybe it's because there aren't any upsets. Bama's home slate was pretty tame this year. A&M was the best team that visited and they didn't really start moving the needle until about halfway through the season. Fans get bored if you are just winning games you are supposed to win. That might be the case with us too. Jackson State, USA, & MTSU don't really move the needle. Auburn & Tennesse were about the only times DWS was rocking. Maybe it would have been rocking for A&M but our team forgot to show up and it was 11AM. Before anyone says, "that's dumb, I love the cupcake schedule." I'm not saying we get rid of it. Just that this is one of the results.
One of the caveats of playing an in your words "cupcake schedule" is our AD HAS to come up with ways to make those games attractive for fans and for students. So, part of that falls on Scott. Those are the games where if you are going to do a tribute to a MSU team- that's the one of the ones you would do a snow bowl tribute for because the SEC games sell themselves.
One of the OOC games could be the season opener- that always draws well.
One could be homecoming- and I think the AD needs to work with the panhellenic council on that as far as the parties. Like maybe show the sorority of the queen and maids on the scorebaord throughout the game, which would encourage them to stay. I wasn't Greek, so I don't know when the parties actually start on homecoming. So, maybe someone enlighten me on that- but maybe work out a deal where the parties don't start until after the end of the game.
One of our OOC games is typically a road game.
The last OOC home game is kind of tricky. Something like a military appreciation day would usually be popular and easy to do. Or maybe even a student appreciation day- have lots more prizes and things for the students and do things that the students would like. Maybe have a kick the DJ in the video's *** contest. Or a what does this hot dog taste like contest.
