Is Trump right again???

The Trump admin is OPEN to recoginizing Alberta as an independent nation if it votes to secede from Canada in 2026, the lawyer leading the Alberta separatist referendum @ikwilson tells me:

"My understanding from the meetings that have occured is that the Trump admin officials have indicated that the US would recognize a vote by the people of Alberta to become independent...

I think the Trump admin also recognizes you guys have right above your border in Montana the THIRD LARGEST reserve of oil and gas in the world."

If the canadian gov't would address some of ther grievences i'm sure talk would dry up and blow away. Also a hard stop if the US government does not recognize it. Probaly the only way it would work long term would be with some sort of formal relationship with the US. Territory? State?

Probably a percentage chance of this happening that is minutely above 0.00%

Some random articles / opinion pieces i googled up. i didn't even really check the dates that they were written. Just looking for some things that aren't behind a paywall or seemed interesting from the first paragraph or two.

i sure would like this. Alberta is one of my favorite places on earth. It's more beautiful than California, and without the Californians.
Alberta obviously has some idyllic spots. Banff Springs and Lake Louise come immediately to mind. It's also a balmy 37 degrees there right now. And I'm serious when I say "balmy," as that is a relatively high temperature for Alberta in the winter.

Why am I 100% not surprised a bit that MAGA world has memory-holed their Alberta nonsense.

"Albertans have voted with an overwhelming majority to remain part of Canada. While the final votes are still being counted, preliminary results show a victory the remain camp."

These MAGAts also believe Trump won in 2020 and is going to serve a third term. And that Republicans will hold onto the house this November. LOL.
