We won. Get over it.
And by the way 17stick. I never said we would miss the tournament because we lost a game.
Tonight was pathetic. Having to use Holder against TWO SWAC teams is pathetic.
to PROVE that you can piss off each & every State fan that reads this board? Are you looking into some anger management classes? Serious questions.
#1 Cohen did NOT have to use Holder. He WANTED to give him some work after his last two outings (3/10 against C Ark, 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1BB, 3 R & 3/17 against LSU, 2.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R). He is a special talent and needed to get out on the mound again before we travel to Kentucky. It's called building his confidence. Hey, I'm no 'insider' BUT Holder was probably slated to go an inning NO MATTER WHO we were playing. Bracewell was looking good and could have easily finished.
#2 Holder's last outing against a SWAC team was 2/19 against Grambling and again, Cohen wanted to give him an inning 3 days before Perdue came to town. He pitched 1.1 with 4 SOs. If you recall, this also allowed Holer to get an AB.
#3 Pro scouts have said that Woodruff has pro potential and has the best arm on the staff. Cohen is trying to get him ready to help in SEC games. Please explain to us 'how' is susposed to do that without getting him back on the mound. Last night was a perfect opportunity.
I really hope you're trolling on purpose, or you're the least self-aware poster on this board. You're already the lamest, since you put a 34 in your original screenname before you got banned to be like Coach34. I'd hate to see someone be both.Exactly it funny how quotes are changed on here
This post is so full of fail. Which innings again did Bracewell pitch tonight?? If you mean Gentry yeah he looked great until walking a leadoff runner. He was pulled at the right time.
#2 Wait you're telling me it's not sad that we had to, HAD TO use our closer against 2 SWAC teams?
#3 When did I say Woodruff shouldn't have started?

Chad Girodo instead of Bracewell. My mistake.
You do know that Gentry was pulled for Cox not Holder, right? Girodo replaced Cox and struck out all 3 batters he faced.
#2 Again, Girodo was 'cruising' (Girodo to p for Cox. Sean pinch hit for Bell. Sean struck out looking (1-2). Ryan struck out swinging (1-2). Justin struck out swinging (3-2)) and Holder was brought in to get some mid-week work NOT because we HAD TO. I also explained 'why' he pitched in the 2-0 win over Grambling.
#3 You said ... "Tonight was pathetic" The ONLY reason that it was only 'pathetic" was because we got behind 5-0. And, the reason we got behind was ... Cohen was trying to get Woodruff some work.
Cohen goal is to improve HIS team, NOT run up the score against Alcorn to make you happy. Giving Woodruff some work was the ONLY reason we didn't win 7-0 or 7-1.
Holder was brought in because it was a one run game in the bottom of the 9th and he's our closer. We HAD to use him. That you even contemplate keeping Girodo in for the 9th as an option is laughable. We HAD to use him against Grambling as well. It doesn't matter if he was going to pitch anyway, its pathetic that we nearly lost to a 4-18 SWAC school.
I guess you don't find our many defensive mishaps pathetic.
You are exactly right about holder. I would have bet he would have come in whether we were up 1 or up 10. He had two out of character outings and needed confidence. I fully expected to see him last night, because if I were a coach, I'd have done the same thing with my All SEC closer after two rough outings.
Ultimately, Cohens job is to build his team and make them better and build their confidence and win more games, not simply get wins that look good on paper.
And tired of beating a dead horse. In my opinion, Holder would have pitched an inning if it was 20-0. You do know that we have used Holder in non-save situations, right?
You Who 'likes' errors? Doesn't make it pathetic. I'm not perfect either. Neither is Cohen. BUT, at least he is trying to make the team better while you CONTINUALLY run it into the ground.
Noticed that you had ZERO to say about Woodruff and the fact that allowing him to pitch changed the complexion of the game. We came back from 5 doewn; Lesser teams would have folded.

You are likely right BUT we still didn't need to even think about risking a loss to Alcorn last night and not pitch Holder because that would have been a big ol' turd in the punchbowl for our RPI come postseason.
