Alec Baldwin kills someone on movie set

I hope it wasn't a case of a disgruntled employee putting live ammunition in the gun. Seems like there was a walk-out of union workers on the set shortly before this incident. They complained about the working conditions and the lax security with firearms. Non-union, locals replaced them.

The armorer, the person responsible for weapons on the set, was an inexperienced 24 year-old woman who had only recently worked on her first movie. The gun went from her to the assistant director who declared it a "cold gun" and handed it to Baldwin. Hard to fault Baldwin, although actors are instructed never to point even a prop gun directly at another human -- always use a slight off-angle.

Supposedly, Baldwin was one of the producers who made the decision whether or not to have live rounds on set. There might be some legal responsibility here.

It’s actually very easy to fault Baldwin. Whoever takes active possession of a gun should NEVER assume ANYTHING about its condition, EVEN IF they just witnessed it being cleared. Whenever a gun is handed to you, responsibility for it transfers to YOU. If you aren’t willing to accept that responsibility then don’t accept the gun. This is not a hard concept.

I’ve not mentioned a single thing about his politics, past boorish behavior, etc… I’m simply saying he is solely responsible for shooting and killing Halyna Hutchins.
If he is found to be he will face charges. And he should. But let all the facts come out.

If this was not Baldwin none of you would care. But because he played orange Jesus your hate for him is multiplied. I also find it funny posters on here talk about what a hateful person he is. Those same posters spew hate daily on here. Talk about being unaware.

Yeah guys. Why can’t you just ignore obvious hypocrisy and get back to ignoring poor black kids being slaughtered every weekend in the cities, like Ed8675309 does?

In the distant past, I was military. At one base, one of my jobs was control of the firing range. I don't care who hands you the weapon and tells you what, it is your responsibility to know.

If it was not Baldwin, there would not be reports about it....duh. If it were a stand in or some unknown actor, it's not on every website. Someday hopefully, your smooth brain gets a wrinkle.

Ya know we're talking about Alec Baldwin, right?

It's the guy who is not in politics, but preaches from the actor's pulpit 24/7 about politics.

On this exact topic, he should have no problems with a few barbs thrown his way:

Life comes at you fast.
Yeah, @Ed323232, this is some ironic ugliness. Agree?

And there should be legal responsibility. Someone died.
Accidents happen and people die.

In this case, it would appear, if there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing, a civil action sounding in negligence seems appropriate. I cannot say why a movie set would have ANY live ammo, but if there is a legit reason, there should have been a procedure to keep live ammo out of a prop gun.

In truth, I'd need more info before wanting criminal prosecution. But Baldwin loves a good witch hunt and public shaming, so I'm rolling with it. What's good for goose, you know.

Wtf is wrong with society?? I guess because many hate Baldwin's politics many seem to be giddy this happened to him. Someone died here in a tragic accident, but most are coming off like Baldwin deserved this to happen to himself.
I also see many who don't grasp movie gun scenes. You think actors are trained in fire arms and are checking the chamber?? No, there are people who's job it is to so that before the actor gets the gun. That's who failed here.
And it seems most don't understand in many scenes you are shooting in the direction of the people filming.
It's a horrible tragedy and shouldn't be pseudo celebrated because you hate someone involved.
God help us all. Society has become a cease pool over damn politics. Guess what, both parties suck and are evil. They also don't give a **** about you.
I knew this thread would go like this, but I had a slim hope people wouldn't be so ignorant, but nope. True to form, we are doomed.

Whatever it is you think you're railing against, it's not half as bad as whatever leftist ignorance you've uncritically embibed yourself with which makes you think people here are celebrating what happened, view it as antyhing but the horrible tragedy it is, because of "politics."

Alec is a complete POS, simple as that... bad politics or good.

Just glad that Alec Baldwin doesn't have access to prop nuke codes on a movie set.

Ridiculous. You have trained people there that know guns for a reason. If you were military I would expect you to know nearly everything about guns. If you don’t own guns you have people in place that do

Excellent post

It's a terrible post, no wonder you like it... as far as dis here Catpaw be concerned, there is no clearer sign that one should seriously pause and reflect further on their position than to be enthusiastically endorsed by the troll that is Edstein.

You're no less blinded by poliitics than those you disagree with or people you think you're morally superior to, but let's put aside that and that Alec is demonstrably a complete POS, and that he is glaringly ignorant and incompetent outside of his successful career playing make-believe, or that his views or characters are politically objectionable to lots of people, the very obvious REALITY REMAINS is that you don't point a gun at someone and click just because you assume it's not loaded. You don't get to blame someone else for this horrible tragic accident and the first words out of your mouth should not be "why did YOU give me a hot gun!"

If I was going to handle a potentially deadly weapon, I would make it a point to know some basics or I wouldn't handle the weapon. Seems like common sense to me.
