Not a fan of this decision. I like ALOT of what Riley has done so far here. But this I don't agree with.
Agree, If these guys voted him captain they obviously have a similar mindset to his. So if Riley has any hope of just maintaining this team until these players get out of here he has to play nice with them or not have a team at allBefore we jump all over Riley for this just keep in mind that he has to consider the feelings of the team in all of this before making a decision. I am reasonably certain that if Riley thought demoting Lewis from captain would help the team he would do so. We are not privy to what is going on in the locker room right now. So I am content to let Riley make this decision and to just let it rest and move on.

I think Riley's hands are tied with this situation. Lewis was voted captain for a reason. And probably that reason is there is a good amount of players that feel exactly like he does. He's quietly weeded out seniors and juniors and replaced them with freshman, redshirt freshman and sophomores. He's in an extremely difficult situation and you see how some posters are reacting with every move. As the saying goes... the long knives are out for Riley.
That all being said he should of kicked him off the team to expose the others.
A classic case of the tail wagging the dog. Riley needs to grow a pair and show his team who the freakin boss is. This kid is still a captain? He should have been booted off the team. THAT would send a message of no more bullsh%t. Bo cancer continues to spread.Agree, If these guys voted him captain they obviously have a similar mindset to his. I don't think he should be booted but I think you have a great point. It really would stop the BS (I would think)A classic case of the tail wagging the dog. It's very hard to root for this team and staff after this.
He should at least made him switch to defense. Then he'd have to play the whole game without a false start.Bad, bad move Riley IMO. Does nothing to make Lewis a better person, or at the very least more respecting of the fans. Shows that disrespect of fans, traveling at that, is of no consequence.
We may lose 6 in a row anyway. We're the worst in the West.If HCMR decides to show everyone that this is HIS team now and boots all the cancers from the team and then procedes to lose 6 or so more games, how many would still be behind him? He's in a pretty tough situation.
Wrong. Bear Bryant would have taken the team out to Junction Texas and made them run gassers for an hour in 100 degree heat with no water. Then they would scrimmage for two hours on a sand field full of goat heads, then more gassers. At the end of the day, coach would point out the box that had the bus tickets home for anyone wanting to quit. That made it pretty easy to figure who was "buying in".Riley played for a coach (Bear Bryant) that would have known how to deal with this situation. If there is indeed a team division over who is the coach now, Bear would have kicked everyone off the team that didn't support what he was trying to do. I think that Nebraska fans would respect that decision and bite the bullet for a year while Riley recruited the players needed to put together his program.
I am not saying that there is a cancer since I am not privy to any information that would indicate that there is. If there is a cancer however, then it needs to be addressed now IMHO.
No it's not.
What Lewis did was dumb, but it was also in the heat of the moment after a heart breaking loss and he didn't punch anyone, or call their mama names, or sleep with a boosters daughter, etc. I would have been fine whatever MR decided here, but I still think if we were 5-0 instead of 2-3 people would care about him a lot less. I still say he's an easy target to point to and blame.

Bryant couldn't get away with doing that now like he did back then. I do think however, that everyone would know who was boss and if they didn't he would run or kick them off the team.Wrong. So much for there being any accountability for your actions.
