Reports are Alex has agreed to sign with KC. 4 years, $72 Million. That's a big contract for KC to hand out. I hope he stays healthy so it's worth the investment

Yup. Listening to KC radio this morning. They are now calling him "Mr. Royal", the team pretty much just guaranteed another year of record attendance.

Sumbitch. Did not see that coming. Seems like a pretty risky signing, but I'm all for it. Wow.

Could he have gotten even more elsewhere? Did he sign for less just to be a Royal?

He probably could of got more money elsewhere. Good for him. When he is done playing, the Royals will retire his number, and build a bronze statue of him, and slap it next to Brett. He will be the next George Brett in 20 yrs.

I posted several weeks ago that I was pretty sure he would re-sign and stay in KC. Not a surprise. They have lots of friends in KC, it's close to family in Lincoln and another of his wife's best friends is moving back to KC this spring. Lots of good reasons for him to take a little less to stay in KC. He's still going to make more money than any of us could ever dream of trying to spend.

Gordon's deal will pay him $12M in 2016, $16M in 2017, $20M in 2018 and $20M in 2019 and there is a mutual option for $23M in 2020 with a $4M buyout. Interesting that it is so backloaded when KC will have some key guys hitting FA.

Do you know who the chubby guy in the picture is? I know you are thinking it is ex HOL poster Ronhusk, but his name is actually Jimmy Faseler. He has a crazy story. Google his name some time.

Wow I'd seen this guy before, never knew the story. He'll of a story.

Win now. Pay the bills later. Every franchise has to have a "face". They almost had to re-sign him.

Good for him...glad to see him stay with same organization. Would have been potentially miserable elsewhere and I bet he gets some sort of appearance deal when he retires...gets paid and a ring cant ask or more

Congrats to Alex. Some may be more successful, but nobody plays the game harder. Well deserved and good recognition by KC management for resigning. He's a consumate pro in every way. I'll also never forget his 9th inning World Series homer that saved that game...
