All I will say about our basketball program is...

look at the SEC West and all of the teams and resources those teams have. After reviewing that, look at the fact that we are the bottom of the barrel as far as resources and location and look what we have done in MSU history. We are in the bottom of the SEC in revenue and budget. I love the state of Mississippi and MSU. Guess what, the best players in the Southeast could care less and Stansbury is able to attract them to MSU. Something Mullen can't do. Also, look at our most successful sports program over the last 10 years. It is clearly basketball regardless of the weakness of the SEC or SEC West. Go look at our NCAA tournament basketball appearances in our history. We have been to 10. Six of those have been under Stansbury. Also, look at all of the hot mid major coaches that came to SEC West schools and failed. Getting rid of Stansbury is a big gamble. If we did, my first choice would be Butch Pierre. Why? Because he knows MSU and the SEC. These hot mid major coaches don't have a good track record. This post is not to defend Stans, because if he doesn't make the NCAA tournament this year I think you have to make a change. However, we have to be very careful with who we get to replace him if that is what ends up happening.

Right. So you wouldn't trust a hot mid major coach who would be coming off a successful tourney run but you would trust Butch Pierre? The same guy that has a whole 10 games under his belt as an interim head coach and who hasn't been at MSU since 1986? Yea he knows MSU well. He's about as current as the MSU fossils that never want to make a coaching change.

Don't know why, but it just cracks me up. Oh, and it was pretty much applicable here, also.

What we spend in the SEC is low- but compared to Butler and VCU- who have 3 Final Fours between them the last 2 years- we dwarf them. We turned down 3 appearances because of racism. We are in the top half of the SEC in league titles with 6. We are also in top half of the conference in SEC Tourney titles. We are also one of only 6 SEC teams to make the Final Four. - so in actuality, when you have the facts, historically, we are one of the best 6 programs in the SEC.

Brady won 2 SEC titles and went to a Sweet 16 and then later a Final Four. How bout Tubby Smith and Billy Donovan?
