Thought about this when Payne went out at about 12 minutes left and we committed 4 fouls in a minute; again with three minutes left and Staton McCray fouled a Creighton guy shooting a three; then when we twice couldn't inbound with 30 seconds remaining. To say nothing about missed front-ends of 1 and 1s. What are the bb IQs of our players?

Did everything possible to lose. 2 missed front end 1 and 1s, Parker missed FT, 2 TOs trying to inbound, Clark Gets pocket picked for easy layup. Missed defensive rebounds, hands down on 3-pointers.

Fisher was playing a very good 2nd half. Getting points, rebounds and playing solid d. He makes a good defensive players knocking a ball out of bounds with 42seconds left and Sha pulled him for Mike Williams.

On the inbound Williams fails to get the steal after Creighton threw up a hail Mary, goes right through Williams hands and out of bounds. Then Nix hits a 3 in his face, next time down he gets beat for offensive rebounds and put back by Green. Again we couldn't get rebound and Zugic hits a 3 and then on final posession he gets completely beat for a wide open stepback 3 in his face. He backpedaled and his hands dropped below his waist.

That's 4-5 terrible defensive plays in 40 seconds by Williams.

And why the hell did Sha have Budd on the bench the final 20+ seconds???

You could cut off Paynes left Arm and leg and he’d still play over Hines.
So, we have to evaluate the Hines minutes late. I was good with Hines coming out if he was just trying to let GodsWill get him a couple of minutes more on the bench. I'm not totally upset with putting Payne in because he contributed when he did come back, BUT if you knew Payne was coming back then why not ride Hines who was starting to take over?? That's not the reason for the meltdown.

I thought Mike struggled on defense when he came back in those last few minutes. Fisher was making a difference and that was good to see. Clarke who played fantastic opened up the door with his turnover. AJ had no options on the inbounds. The announcer was correct that you get everyone out of there and let Clarke use his speed to get the inbounds.

Thought the same. As bad as our players were down the stretch Sha **** the bed just has badly in the last two minutes. And we still had one timeout left.

The lack of focus and ability to have situational awareness is shocking.

Knowing what you need to do in the moment is something I haven’f seen in two years here.

Sha coached a horribly panicked last 3 minutes.

Taking Fisher out and putting Williams in was a head scratcher, based on the way the two were playing.

Not allowing Hines any minutes down the stretch was puzzling

Not using his final timeout during the panic..

But NOT having Budd in at the end was criminal by Holloway.

What a brutal way to destroy a good feeling season.

Sha let's the opposing coach dictate who he plays. He was obviously afraid to play Hines versus Jason Green. He only put Hines in when Freeman came in but McDermott only played him 4 minutes so Sha yanked Hines just as he was making a difference with a 3-point play so he could play Godswill who is lost on the floor.

Sha has to explain how Godswill gets 7 minutes in this game while Hines rides the bench. Godswill had another Zero Line.

As I said I thought Sha wanted to steal a few minutes for Hines on the bench because it was probably going to be a tough last 5 minutes. I was OK with that. He never sniffed the floor again. He could have gone offense/defense with Payne and Hines in the last couple. Hines has the variable where he somehow makes a difference. However, all the Pirates lost their composure in those crucial last minutes. I appreciate what Sha is trying to do here, but he just won't play his best guys as a unit enough minutes, from the opening tip to end of games. So, disappointed that it was the defense that lost the game.

that's a wrap on the season. all timer
This is worse than St. John's loss, in some ways. We turn them over, shoot the 3 ball better, up by 10 with minutes to go.

Then takes out Fisher and we give up a key offensive rebound, McCray throws a terrible lob, fouls a three point shooter and cant get ball in.

We were shooting the 3 well and seemed to abandon that in second half.

Where was Budd in the final minutes. Did I miss something?

Guys we took 2 timeouts and couldn’t inbound the ball up 4 with 30 seconds. Thats the same crap we did in Sha’s fist year at the BET.

Deserve it.

Sha is doing everything he can to encourage Hines to transfer. Puzzling how his minutes have gone down so much lately. Meanwhile he’s a much better FT shooter than Payne and should be in games at the end.
After about ten games I felt Himes should be getting the majority of minutes at the 5. Since then, he has noticeably stalled. Payne is the better basketball player now. WSOU's announcer said that when Payne went out at the 12 minute mark, he was a plus 7 while Himes was a -5.

Tough one. The team did so much right and so many things went well for such a long stretch. The refs even let us play and get away with stuff and it frazzled the hell out of the Jays.

I don’t get the Hines thing. He had 5 points and 4 boards in 7 minutes. If he’s going to foul out, let him foul out. Understand Sha prefers Payne and maybe even now GWE defensively, but Creighton had no answer for Hines on the block and on the backboard. Maybe Hines is missing defensive assignments or doing stuff in practice we don’t know.

Or maybe we are just overvaluing what Hines can bring.

And Clark shooting 3s!!!

Hope he keeps taking them (just don’t make too high a %, otherwise he won’t be here next year LOL).

Someone should ask Sha about the 5 points above

He'll give you attitude and likely not answer. He's a colossal PITA after losses, completely rude to everyone and even belittles guys like Dave Popkin. Or he pulls a no-show, which he did after both games this week.

At least this time he sent Lowery. He was saying they were calling timeout from the sideline but it wasn't acknowledged or something, IDK.
