That was the best home game I’ve attended since 2014 Auburn. Credit to the fans who showed up.

With that being said, we had perfect weather, 6:30 kick against the #12 team in the country, first home game of the season, and there were 15k empty seats. Where the hell are you people? It’s time to act like we’re in the SEC. Enough feeling sorry for ourselves.

We’ve had a tough time filling the stadium since 2019. I’ve read all the excuses, but it still looks like we’re the only SEC team that struggles with this. Time to invest in the program. Lebby and Selmon are building what everyone has been bitching for.

6 wins is a realistic possibility this year, which I’ve seen some of you say is just a pipe dream. Time to put your nut sack on the table. A new era is here.

The difference in how out or in we all are swung so much in that goal line stand and game winner. So much on the line with the fan base’s enthusiasm. They schedule sets us up to make the most of the next month of it at least

I won't go overboard and say we're going to have the winning season we all want, but this really positively changes things. I feel a lot better about our football program and the direction it is headed.

I still have some reservations about some of our decisions, both by the coaches and players, during the game last night, but I feel like our chances are better for the rest of the season. I hope we make some good decisions for the future. We probably still won't have our winning season, but our future is definitely brighter because of one big play.

Good post. And good for the students to get that experience.

I ain't gonna lie. I gave up on them with 3 minutes left.
I swear I fully believed we would win that game until the last 2nd down play. After that I picked up my cowbell, put it in my pocket, grabbed my bottled water and was standing with my arms crossed ready to leave. When we scored I just looked at my son and smiled, kinda in shock of what we just witnessed

Ill buy in when we win an SEC game.

But, I give the whole team a ton of credit for fighting hard last night when they easily could have been like me and given up. Definitely some improvement over last year.

Thank God we fired Hutzler, right??

Am I bought in?

- I think the team is a lot better than last year.
- Winning last night doesn't make me think we will end the year ranked.
- Winning last night won't justify people melting down like tired toddlers in mall when we lose badly to a couple highly ranked conference opponents.

I certainly plan to watch more of the season now than what I planned before the season started.

6 wins is still the goal and it’s now attainable. The win is great for PR and fan interest. But I hope people don’t let that #12 ranking cause disappointment at the end of the season.

If their qb can hit the broad side of a barn in the first half, I’m not even sure we’re in that game at the end. Still, that was a decent team we beat, which is more than we could muster last season.

And it’s early, but it looks like 4 SEC matchups could be against similarly decent teams. Just have to split them and Lebby will have done what he needs to do this year and there will be no excuse for the fans to not be all in.

To watch next week's game with Alcorn State on television, you have to subscribe to ESPN+. That's the first time in the era of all games being televised that a "super subscription" is needed to watch a game that I can remember.

That depends on what I’m buying…

When I saw that Arizona State struggled against Northern Arizona, I changed my mind and thought State would be a lot more competitive against the Sun Devils, so I picked them to win.

My 34-17 score in the prediction thread was a throwaway submission… I knew no one would go with that score the week after the USM game…

The offense needs to be more consistent though. We did just enough to win.

The defense did better. I’m not a Hutzler fan but he gets some kudos…

But the Sun Devils won last year by one score too… and that makes me also wonder how badly has Arizona State regressed…

So the big question: Will State be competitive throughout the season? I’d need to see how we play against SEC teams first…

Don’t feel bad for that. Nearly everyone else did too including myself.

This win is the most un-Mississippi State thing ever.
We were the same at the game. We were talking about how we won afterwards and nobody could really remember us winning a game like that. We LOSE games like that, not win them.

Me being the pessimist that I am I still have a hard time seeing 6 wins. But….who knows.
I don't think we get to six either, but we have already won as many as I thought we would. We should beat my low expectations .

That was the game you were counting on if you picked the over this year. I think the over is locked now. Otherwise nothing has changed in my mind.

I'm glad to see improvement. Hopefully Shapen will make quicker decisions as the year goes on. He needs to throw some balls away instead of taking sacks. His accuracy was very good. I like the speed of our receivers. I like the power of our RBs. I'm happy the defense improved. Not happy they couldn't stop the run in the second half. Ecstatic that they did in the final drive. I'm happy with the FG kicker.

For now I am encouraged that we won't be horrible like last year. I'm not excited we are playing such weak competition next week. I really wish we were playing a competitive foe so we can continue to improve.

If we can run the football better it will improve the offense by a lot. The hustle on the field hasn’t been seen in a very long time. I think that’s what we all want. Appear to be better at tackling. We shall see🤞🏻

There's a lot of empty seats everywhere. There were just as many at the Ole Miss-Kentucky game.

Besides MuH dOvE hunting sEaSoN, every SEC game is on TV as well as the hassle of going to and from campus.

If anything, you can see Lebby has a plan and that we have upgraded talent and have improved.

Opening against the buzzards (literally their Super Bowl) was tough for a 2-win team, and we had to overcome a lot in the 2nd half to win. Then playing against a playoff team from the year before? Damn. I don’t think they are gonna get there this year, but they are still probably at least a decent bowl team.

Lebby at least “put up” so far this season and shut up some of his loudest detractors. There’s plenty of reason for optimism for the future even if we don’t have a spectacular season. Any bowl game and/or conference wins would be HUGE for us.

I'm bought in. He flipped me last night. I just need to see a little better play calling and Shapen needs to learn to get rid of it instead of taking sacks.

What was the announced attendance? We definitely had empty spots, but I would say by mid first quarter, there had to be 57k+ from view point. There were a decent amount that didn’t come back after halftime and easily a few thousand that left once ASU was first and goal. They shouldn’t be allowed back in the stadium.
