We really need him to step it up at the plate. You cannot overstate the importance of a strong middle infield if you want to make a run at the championship, ask South Carolina.

It was getting do or die for Pirtle. He's gotta keep it up to knock Norris out of the lineup. I'm still for Detz at 2B for now.

IF he can play it, I'm all for it too. But we could also DH Detz, depending on who's hitting between Norris and Porter.

DHing is tougher than people realize. Not for everyone. Detz seems like the kind of player that if you take him off the field, it will effect him at the plate.

Edited: Perhaps that was a little too harsh. Let's put it this way....I think you're thinking too much, with that take.

Pirtle needs to keep this up this weekend. I have no doubt that he will start at least one game. I hope what he is doing is a product of working in the cage with Cohen and not a product of playing a SWAC team.

Here's what is nice- for the first time in years, we are going to have to sit some good players at least some of the time. We're missing one of our top power guys in Rea, and we aren't missing a beat.

I like Rea and all but he's either on or completely off. He'll grab his job back when he gets healthy but if he goes on a slump half as bad as the one he had last year I don't think it'll take more than a second for Cohen to sit him. As he should, we might not have another "power hitter" but we have a ton of hitters.

All hitters are streaky at least to an extent. But I have a lot of faith in Wes as a hitter and I think he will ultimately be better than he was last year. His issues have mostly been health related. There is a reason why Cohen was hitting him third when was healthy and also when he came back last week.

But yeah- if he struggles really badly for whatever reason, we have shown that we have enough depth to overcome it even if it means having less power. Hopefully though we'll still have Hunter at least in the lineup, and having both out at the same time is what really sapped the power out moreso than just one or the other being out.

yall forget reas glove. He is an all american first baseman and without that where do we even throw it to? His power is a bonus and lets not forget we have yet to see that side of him.

Based on what

the coaches are saying about his D, it looks like he's going to be the 2B, regardless oh his offense.

Rea is like this guy. He hits straight ball very much!

Also someone earlier said they didn't mind Sam Frost being first off the bench or something of the sort. Was that a serious statement or has he shared the dirty pictures he has of somebody important with you?***

Lastly a question for the board. What in the hell do we do if Frasier can't go for a game or more?
