I will admit it. I was busted for trolling and my thread was locked. I do not post much, so I had to call a friend and ask why using the acronym CDM was not acceptable. I also had to find out what the term trolling meant.

Here is the scoop. I am a Bama fan. A big Bama fan. But I am also a State fan. State is my #2. I have 2 uncles and 2 cousins that played for State. My entire family are Mississippi State fans. We hate Ole Miss and we hate Auburn. When I was born, I was brought home wrapped in a MSU blanket. Unfortunately, for my parents, we lived in Tuscaloosa. By living and growing up in Tuscaloosa, I became an Alabama fan. But I do like Mississippi State.

My question for this board is legitimate:

What would your reaction be if Coach Dan Mullen hired Mike Dubose as his linebacker coach, D-Line coach, or DC? I honestly want to gauge the boards reaction. I am a fan of Mike Dubose. I know he made mistakes as a head coach, I know he has payed dearly for those mistakes, and I know he has learned from those mistakes. I also know he would be an outstanding addition to Coach Mullens staff. He knows defense. He knows the SEC. He is familiar with the area and he knows how to recruit.

What do you guys think?

there is no doubt he is qualified...BUT, we are in the middle of a youth movement in S'ville and most of us are hoping for a high-energy DC in their late 30's or early 40's...

Just not the right time for Dubose

what about as a d line coach or lb coach. Having some experience mixed in with the youth movement might not be a bad idea.

and maybe even him as DC with some good young hires that he can really teach and mentor while they bring the energy to recruiting and coaching.

..I really feel that in the DC position Mullen needs somebody who can carry the title of Assistant Head Coach. Somebody who's done it before, and preferably more than once. He's got enough on his plate without having to look over the shoulder of a 30-something defensive coordinator.

I wouldn't mind having him as a position coach (or possibly even as DC) if he wanted to get back into big-time college football. He's a hell of a coach. But I suspect he's happy being semi-retired at Millsaps.

He has been a part of NC teams at Bama, has been a DC, and he has HC experience, which could be beneficial to Mullen. He has won an SEC Championship, so it's not like Curly Hallman we're talking about here. Being at Millsaps has probably made him very familiar with Mississippi as far as recruiting.

I doubt it will happen because I know he really likes what he's doing now, but you never know since this opportunity is now open. I think DuBose wants to be a HC, and I think he wants to be a HC at D-III. I could see him being at Millsaps for a long time. So, I would be surprised if he came on board.

But you never know.

I am unable to comprehend your post because all it says is "I didn't spell the name Mullen correctly". Once I get over that I might be able to read it.

I wanted to thank you guys for letting an outsider come in and get some idea of what the heart of the bulldog nation is thinking. I appreciate all of your responses. Who knows, maybe Coach Mullen will consider adding Coach Dubose to his staff. I really think it would be a great situation for Coach Dubose and MSU.

FWIW, I think State gets Bumphis and PPatterson, but F. Cox rolls with the Tide.

when talking smack! But he is a good coach and I hope that he lands somewhere however Miss State has had an Alabama relationship with our Football coaching staff for 17 years. We need a little break.

I remember going to the Alabama, Miss State game in 1997 and they had bomb dogs in the stadium. They had a bomb threat made against Deboise. I think he would make one hell of a DC, I don't want him. For now anyways.

Ooh Rah!

A bomb threat was made in 97 specifically targeting Dubose. If true, I have never heard that.

I was on the Miss State Side lines talking to one of the trainers I knew and saw the police in the stands with dogs. I asked what was going on and the trainer told me what had happen. That was the year we went 7 and 4 and lost to Ole Miss in the Egg bowl. They went to the motor city bowl I believe and we stayed home.

I am only saying what I saw and was told.

I really doubt they would let that kind of stuff be known to the fans. That was the year Alabama did not win a home game.

97 was a bad year for the Tide.

Sorry for the reply earlier, not really in the smack talking mood. Besides, recent history doesn't allow either of our fan bases to talk too much smack. The Tide is definitely on the rise though and I think State finally has the coach in place to start being more competitive on a consistent basis.

you responded about the same way I would have. If I was worried about my feelings getting hurt I would not post hear on the Six Pack.

I hope you right about our coaching change.
