Please hit me with the ******** justifications I know oh so many of you have....

Btw Louisiana is an open carry state....can carry without a permit as long as long as you are over 17. Guess the right to bear arms is only for white folks...And of course the mandatory body cam was disabled....

That was murder. No doubt about it.

However, if he was holding or was going for a gun then it could be justified. Doesn't look like he is but we can't see his right arm.

It's because it was pinned under him. Dozens of eye witnesses stated he never made a move for his weapon. He was shot 7 times . 3 believed to be in the head. Even if he went for gun, no way is shooting him 7 times in that position in the head justifiable.

I'm hearing reports that he was waving and pointing his gun at people and that is why the cops were called.

You can bring up anything you want bro...I know he has a legal history, he was tazed ...but I don't care man if you have a guy down like that there's absolutely no justification to take his life and shoot him 7 times.

I am not anti-police. But I know police are trained in many de-escalation tactics....ranging from verbal, to pepper spray, to restraints, to tazers, sticks, and shooting NOT TO KILL. If you are unwilling to work through that chain and face that reality and just want to jump to shooting a person lying face down on the ground with his arms pinned behind him your *** dont need to have a badge. That simple.

There is no such training shoot not to kill that's only in the movies. Police are trained to shoot till the threat stops. This does not mean there trained to kill. I am not justifying what they did I'm just replying to this one statement.

You are right except for the part in all caps.

That cop should spend life behind bars. That was...hell don't know what to call it besides cold blooded murder. No justification for it.

I bet you're gonna be surprised at the reaction to this, and probably not understand.

***Can't see the video at work, just going off initial reports.***

So the police were called to a scene where a man was reportedly waving a gun and has a checkered past. They show up and all we can assume from the video is he failed to comply with police orders to get on the ground so the police had to physically restrain him. One of the two cops says "he has gun"and the camera turns away. Then the man shot and killed. It was later discovered he in fact had a gun.

Am I missing something here or is it impossible to draw a conclusion at this point as to what happened? We all know Sean is a complete dumbass but unless I've failed to see the complete report on the incident how can any rational person possibly draw a conclusion at this point? The policeman then says he has a gun and was later proven correct. Morons like Shawn ike to loot and burn buildings and jump on the hood of police cars without knowing details and facts because they're ignorant but and how are people so quick to irrationally daw quick conclusions with these types of stories?

We all know police kill more white people every year than black people despite black people committing significantly more crimes per capita. 63 black people were shot by other black people in the city of Chicago ALONE just over the holiday weekend. Why in the hell are people not jumping on hoods of cars and protesting that ********?

Again, it certainly doesn't look good for the cops in this particular situation but I just don't know how you can draw conclusion at this point. There are certainly bad cops in every city but I'll never understand why people like Sean like to pick certain incidents to try and prove some distorted and warped Point of view.

It's a shame the man was killed, but he had pulled a gun on a customer which is why the cops were called, he refused the orders from the cops to get down, he was tazed, he then fought with the police, and finally he had a concealed weapon, which is not legal even in open carry states without a concealed carry permit. Open means just that, it must be clearly visible.

If you do all of the above, there's a good chance you'll get killed by the cops. Black and White plays no role in it, it's just common sense.

All reports say shots in the chest and back.

Another situation where everyone involved made decisions that led to the ultimate outcome. Obviously all of the anger will be thrown at the cops, but their could've been other outcomes if either side had been smarter.

From some videos I have seen the last couple years, really seems like cops need much better training in 2v1 scenarios...actually they may be doing as trained, procedures need to be changed in the 2v1 events.

I'm sorry if you get a guy to the ground face down and restrained, find out he has a gun and your reaction is to say if you move I'll shoot you then you a little too trigger happy. Dude was just laying there face down...not really resisting much at all...didn't go for his gun at all....and was shot multiple times from point blank range. That's just unnecessary.

I really don't care... he was inna position where you could've easily put both arms in handcuffs while he was laying on the ground , searched his pockets, removed the gun and then put him in the back of a cop car still very much alive.

Agreed.

Now, what was he doing there? Why were the cops called? Was he carrying a weapon, and was it concealed? Was he confrontational with law enforcement? Did he follow requests by law enforcement once they arrived?

Not making excuses for killing the guy, but this all could have been avoided if the cops had done different AND if he had done different.

Is there another video I'm not seeing? The video you linked never shows Sterling face down, and it's impossible to tell where his hands are. The officer may turn out to be completely at fault, and if he is then so be it. It just seems to me you're making some pretty big leaps based on that video clip.

much like Michael Brown & Trayvon Martin & Freddie Gray, the instant snap news that is spread out to get everyone to emotionally react is likely completely wrong

Yep - hands up, don't shoot is still a rallying cry.

With that name, they might have thought he was a 1%er and the cops may be Bernie supporters. Just never know.

To the poster above who said cops shoot more white people - that is correct. However blacks are 12% of the population and account for 49% (or something close to that can't remember exact number) of shooting deaths by cops. So they are definitely shot at a much higher rate than anyone else.

But anyway, with that said, this particular case with the video that I saw looks pretty horrible and pretty much like murder to me. That coupled with the store clerks account of thinking the person was unnecessarily shot. Also in the account I read the cops were there because he was selling CDs, not waving a gun. So it sounds like the whole story isn't out yet.

You are a stats wizard. Compare number of black murderer's with white murderer's and report again.

This is correct, but then you'd have to take into account who statistically is arrested at a higher rate....and then that flips the scales back. Right or wrong, I doubt police encounters with certain races fall in line with said races % of population.

^^I'm not moving the needle or changing an argument or arguing anything else. I simply stated that blacks are shot in a higher frequency by police than any other demographic. If you would like to refute that and show that that is not true than I will apologize, but that is all I was addressing, not whatever you are attempting to now argue.

You do not really care ??? Hum, sounds like what you really mean is "cops are guilty no matter what cause it was a black man killed." Seriously, how many times have you restrained a man with a gun, cuffed him, and put him in a police car ? Is it really that easy ? I mean, if he was tazed, given orders, and still resisted, what would be the next step ? Also, how can you see his arms and intent in that video ??? I will what until ALL the facts come out, not going to 100% say the police are wrong, and not going to say 100% that the guy with the gun was wrong. WAIT until we know more, jumping to conclusions without watching the story play out can leave a very confusing conclusion.

Serious question Sean (and it is sad to see another HUMAN, not black man lose his life), but why did he not obey orders ? If I am a black man, and right or wrong, seeing all the cases of black men being shot (justified or not) by police in hostile situations, why would I keep resisting or disobeying commands to stop ??? Why keep fighting or ignoring several commands ??? Even if I was 100% in the right and not doing ANYTHING wrong, to preserve my life, if confronted by gun yielding police or any one for that matter, I am probably going to obey their commands and live to see another day.

page 2. Maybe end of this one. I'll start:

"I think cops should have more guns so they can shoot more people, and also I think more people should have more guns so they can shoot more people. I may be willing to change my mind with some good retort and possibly some statistics that aren't skewed in any way... a graph or two would also help."
Graphs suck. If it ain't in a pie chart I ain't gonna look at it. #truth

In your very first sentence you said he was shot in the head 3 times, then immediately increased it by 133%. Since you're clearly just making **** up then why not change it to 10 head shots? How about 15? OMG RACIST COPS SHOT A GUY 27 TIMES STRAIGHT IN THE FACE!!!!

Have you ever tried to get someone in cuffs, Sean?

I have personally seen videos of cops being shot in the exact same position. It's actually..I know you won't believe this because you're sean.. one of the MOST dangerous positions cops are in.
You don't have to watch many episodes of Cops to see just how difficult it is to restrain and cuff someone. Even small women can be extremely tough to handle. But nothing will change sean's opinion.

Dude, I think he left out an "or" between "in this position" and "in the head."

I have a few questions.

1. Did the cops know of this individual's past prior to arriving on the scene? If not, his background is not relevant to this specific situation.

2. If the cops behaved on the up and up why is all of possible footage (sans the cellphone video) missing? The cops removed surveillance footage from inside the store and claimed both officers body cameras fell off.

3. Why did these cops react so fearfully and aggressively regarding a gun in an open carry state? A gun that can't be seen at any point in this video?

4. Why do news outlets rush to release any criminality/mugshots they can find on black victims while holding off on releasing the names of the officers? (Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Sam Dubose etc.) I'm sure these people have pictures a myriad of other places besides there. If the police can wait damn near a month to release Brock Turner's mugshots then damnit they can do that here too.

5. Why will you spend so much time trying to refute these points instead of realizing the grossness of this behavior?
