the media doesn't have a clue whats really going on in our athletic department?

I know they're working their asses off, but there have been some pretty serious stories come out a bit after the fact. We didn't know Tobias was even injured until after his surgery. All bets were off on the Bumpis ankle. Varnado paying his own way? The football coaching search was the blind leading the blind.

I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing. Just saying Byrne is running a pretty tight ship w/ regards to the media.

is a good thing. I have no problem with this. Granted, as a fan I always feel like I want to know everything but as a whole this is good for the program

I sure hope you're right about this. The average fan has no idea how important a University President and Athletic Director are to the success of the teams they support. I am confident that Byrne knows what he's doing at State. We certainly need to keep him around for a while. Heck, the only reason we hired Jackie was b/c Dr. Z trumped Templeton and insisted that we get him. If Dr. Z didn't care about having a winning football program, we never would have enjoyed the great success (and wins) we had during Jackie's "good" years.
