Now, immediately following the Auburn game, I got upset and frustrated at the offensive playcalling somewhat. However, after considering the situation I've realized a few things. For one, we obviously lack talent. Our two QBs are just not that good. Our WRs are inconsistent. Our interior OL isn't very good at all. On top of all of that, consider this: some commentators yesterday were discussing Michigan's improvement running their offense. Last year they looked terrible running that offense. They were a traditional offense team, thus going to the spread option was a huge step. Well guess what, MSU was a traditional offense team. There have been times where, when running our base plays, things are set up perfectly but we just don't run the play as well as we should. Why? I think the easiest and most likely explanation is we just aren't used to running this stuff against other teams yet. We've played 3 games with this offense. So far we look far and away better than the Croom Coast Offense, and we are doing it without a QB. Folks, as we improve at running our base plays on offense I think Mullen is going to open things up. I certainly hope Mullen goes all out recruiting Newton, he could be a huge difference maker.
