Vandy was much better last year b/c they had some offense. This year's team beat Vandy as well, and beat a JSU team that may not be able to beat MSD. As far as Auburn is concerned - Croom's team only lost by one. It's too early to tell but you can't discredit his opinion at this point.

and read all of his posts. They all say the exact same thing. MSU sucks. Always have, always will. Booo hooo hoooo. Poor poor pitiful me. Waaaaaaahh. I hate being a State fan. Waaaahh waaaahh.

The thing that gets me, is this 17'n tool posts the same exact drivel on BDJ, a pay site. If you hate MState so much like you say you do, Arrow, why in the 17'n hell do you pay money to an internet website supporting said University? I can understand coming on here and being a suicidal douchebag, but paying a monthly/annual subscription to be a suicidal douchebag? Just kill yourself already. I can assure you, you won't be missed.

is he claims to have given up, yet he still clearly follows the team. He can't even give up correctly.

Don't try to kill yourself, Arrow, you'll only screw it up and disfigure yourself worse than God already did. Go rob a bank and let a cop take you out.

If an MSU fan can't enjoy being 2-1 then why even follow MSU athletics. As someone pointed out, since the 2000 season we've started 2-1 twice. Twice! Let that sink in. No, we won't go bowling. No, we won't likely beat LSU. No, we won't win more than 4 games. But come on, enjoy being 2-1 and collecting an SEC road win for just a few days. Being an MSU fan is tough. We typically suck, and then when we are really good with a chance to do something special we usually blow it. The only consolation is the excitement and special feeling tha tcomes with actually performing well. It is sad that some State fans refuse to enjoy the good times. Seriously, lighten up Francis.

As to your statement that we are no better than we were under Crooms last year, that is just ridiculous. Come on, be truthful. Croom loses this game. For one thing, whoever was kicking would have missed at least 1 field goal, the punter would have likely sucked, the special teams coverage would have been poorer, the offense wouldn't have scored a touchdown, Croom would have sat on 6-3 and lost 10-6. I pretty much despise discussing Croom or what he would have done this year, but sometimes people bring about the necessity.

Come on, Crooms lost 3-2 to an Auburn whose coach had his foot on the throat of his OC and finally pulled the plug on the offense after a few games. Comparing scores of this year's and last year's Auburn game is apples to oranges. In case you didn't notice, they are averaging 500 yds/game and apparently it's not a fluke.

Arrow, you seriously need to just bite the bullet and become a Mississippi fan. They have a nice championship history back in the 60s that I'm sure you'd love to look back on and brag about that would surely help your street cred as a football fan. Poor ol MSU has nothing to offer a winner like yourself.

you can't really say who's better at this point. As morbid as you say Arrow is, his arguments for this thread actually hold water objectively. This year's team still has a long way to go. I think long term Mullen will be a better coach than Croom, but at this present juncture, Arrow's argument is legit.

we were 1-2 after 2 home/1 away, this year we are 2-1 with 2 away/1 home. We scored 51 points total in our first 3 games last year, we scored 45 in the first game this year.

Your statements are ridiculous.

You are so one-tracked mind sometimes dude, and you fail to evaluate the situation objectively. You played Jackson freaking State. I hope you score 45 pts on them or else something is seriously wrong. I am glad you are happy though and also glad State is 2-1.

not a huge difference. And we lost to a terrible Auburn team, as opposed to losing to this year's Auburn team which looks pretty good. Completely different.

Let's also mention how much better we are on special teams. Huge improvement there. We are better offensively, better on special teams, and worse on defense, but we showed that we are willing to make adjustments, unlike last season. We are a lot better, the only people who would disagree are idiots like Arrow who troll internet boards, and you I guess.

When comparing this year's team to last year's team, this one crucial fact must be remembered. We lost several key SEC caliber starters and replaced them with crappy Croom recruits who aren't SEC caliber. 2009 MSU's talent < 2008 MSU's talent. Croom, with a more talented team and a far more favorable schedule, totally sucked. Mullen, installing a new offense and defense, working with no QB and serious defficiency in talent, is looking better and is 2-1. He has yet to lose to a LaTech caliber team. His offense isn't totally terrible.

And last year was year 5 for Croom and this is Mullen's first ever at the head coach position. That tells me something about him

I really am not sold on Mullins offense yet. Call me a moron, a troll, creepy whatever, but I am not impressed yet ya'll. When we played someone with a decent offense we got stomped. Ya'll are suckin' each other's dicks over beating JSU and Vandy. Yes, I am going to be a pessimistic debbie downer of a bulldog fan until I see some really neat **** going on on the offense. That little sneak Lee pulled off to get the TD was exactly what I am talking about, but why not pull that kind of **** the entire game? Ya'll are the sheep acting like Mullen is so damn awesome because he beat JSU and Vandy. I am going to be in the junction tailgating my *** off and in the stands cheering my *** off and I will be on the field pulling the grass out of the ground if we beat LSU.

for some reason i get fired up for every msu game. you never really know whats gonna happen. you know msu will probably loose but when msu actually wins its just that much better to be a bulldog. on this coming up game honestly msu will probably lose and im so tired of saying that but it just gives you another reason to get ****-faced.

You act like we would be better off if we kept Croom and Woody for offense.
I respect your opinion until you just resort to bashing Mullen after 3 games. I might start agreeing with you after the season has progressed but it is still too early to just hate what we are doing. There are improvements maybe not noticeable to you but it is starting to become more and more apparent we are improving. No one here is sucking dick and no one here believes we will win a championship this year. If LSU skull17s us this weekend then I will take back everything i have been saying and stop my bleating.

You want to see some neat **** going on on the offense? Its called moving the ball down the field. Its a novel concept that hasn't been seen in Starkville since who knows when. No, we don't look like Florida-West, but we damn sure don't look anything like we have the last ten years. Its called progressive improvement. This **** doesn't happen overnight, and Mullen is doing the best with the **** platter that was left him. Enjoy the slow progression now, and enjoy watching us get better with every game instead of bitching because we aren't running gadget plays on every down.

we do run that play Tyson scored on all the time. It's the play you are constantly bitching about, you see, 9 times out of 10, he hands it to Dixon there, so that on that tenth time, when he keeps it, its wide freaking open. Did the same thing against Auburn with Relf for a big gain.

What's the saying the best defense is a good offense?
I think Mullen showed some great coaching in the 4th quarter with the clock management we did on our touchdown drive. We drove the ball 80 yards and ran the play clock down every snap and that as a fan is exactly what you want to see. We didn't try anything stupid and stuck to our bread and butter and wore them down in the trenches and ate up the clock to eliminate any opportunity left they might have.

Croom won against a better Vandy last year. ****. Telling people to kill themselves because they can see is stupid. Mullen has not proved a damn thing yet. Croom beat a tubby coached Auburn two years ago in Auburn. Croom beat and lost to many JSU caliber teams, that didn't prove ****. What is wrong with all of you?

And stop telling us State fans to enjoy being 2-1 for once. That's what I can't stand about State fans. We thrive on $!$#@*+ mediocrity. We have to enjoy being 2-1 because we know we're gonna suck? That is the worst damn **** ever. How about getting pissed off because we're sick of being losers and we're not gonna take it anymore? When we go around patting each other on the back for going 2-1 and then go 2-10 for the rest of the season are we supposed to say, "remember, we always have 2-1!! WEEEEE!! 2-1!!" 17 that stupid noise. I am a bulldog and I am sick of being a loser and I am not gonna settle for it. Mullen should have been able to hang a few tds on them last night. Make Mullen work man. Don't let him rest. We want blood and we want it now. This waiting 3 or 4 years crap is bs. No other team in the SEC besides Vandy puts up with that sort of mentality. State fans need to start thinking like winners and give up this loser mentality.

by saying mullen is a terrible coach now and so 5 years down the road if we fire him then stansfield will crawl out of the woodwork saying I told you so. And i feel confident we won't keep an incompetent coach for 5 years under Byrne.

Coach's reason for not being a Stansbury fan is legit, ie he hasn't gotten us deep in the tourney. You can understand that. Our offense is a ton better this year, the statistics bear that out.

This waiting 3 or 4 years to be good is reality. Not because we accept mediocrity or don't strive to be the best, but because the previous regime accepted mediocrity. It took 6 or so years to put us in this hole and if you expect for Mullen to pull us out of it in one year you're kidding yourself. Our current regime in the Bryan Building from all accounts does not accept mediocrity. You act like you want Mullen to turn us into a national power just by taking over. He can only do so much with what was left. Like I said, enjoy the progressive improvement, and with the standards that are set in the Bryan Building we'll get to the level you and all of us fans want us to be at in time. It is perfectly acceptable to demand excellence and have realistic expectations at the same time. Realistic expectations for this year I think are for about 4 wins, to be competitive in all our games, and show consistent improvement in all aspects of the game as the season progresses. If those three things happen, this year should be deemed a success for Mullen. Next year, the expectations will increase and so on and so forth until we are at a championship level. Championship level is the big picture goal and expectation, but along the way there has to be smaller goals and lesser expectations to show that we are moving towards the big goal.

Yea I see where coach is coming from when stansbury is brought up but I'm not going to even begin to stir the pot on basketball season yet.

We still got a lot of football to watch and the offensive production has been improving and Stansfield is completely blowing this out of proportion. I can understand anyones frustration from being a state fan but how the hell do you bash Mullen this hard after 3 games. Mullen being conservative these past two games was for good reason and I think it shows that he is understanding how to correct his mistakes.
He went conservative at the end of the 1st half against Auburn and they managed to tack on that extra touchdown to steal all momentum away for good, then he comes back this week against Vandy and does not go conservative and puts us in prime position to atleast get a field goal until Lee 17ed that up. But he continued to coach and talk to Lee about it and be humble during his interview going into the lockerroom. And then he came back and went conservative with the play calling to chew the clock in the 4th quarter which sealed it for us.
And lastly I think we are saving our biggest fireworks for games like the ones coming up this weekend. These first three have worked out great for us. We know our biggest weaknesses and we know our strengths and we still have everyone injury free. and we got some weapons on offense we just have to learn how to pass and learn fast. I bet Mullen is shitting his pants during these games when we are stuck in a passing situation and he has to look to Lee or Relf to do it for him.

"Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash we have very little reason to be interested in them."
- Pauline Kael

Swap MSU football for movies and there you have it. If you are waiting for a national championship to get excited about MSU football then you are going to be waiting a long, long time. Enjoy the small victories. Being 2-1 is no reason to get delusional and start expecting a division title, but it's also no reason to throw yourself off of a bridge. Thankfully there doesn't appear to be anyone here expecting us to be world-beaters just because of victories over JSU and Vandy, but there are a few too many already threatening to throw themselves off that bridge.

I can't wait for next Saturday. And I'm going to enjoy the week leading up to it. We temporarily have a winning record and there is a big game to look forward to. LSU will probably beat us, but then again, maybe they won't. Mullen appears to be moving the team in the right direction, slowly but surely. I've sat through much worse periods in MSU history and still showed up on Saturday with a cowbell and a little bit of hope.

When I was in college, we NEVER lost to LShoe. I loved it when we paraded the goal post in front of the visiting section and they threw whiskey bottles and sugar packets at us. I loved it when John Bond hits Mardye McDole with a perfect 69 yard pass the second half for a 55-24 blowout. I loved it when that guy comes off the bench to replace a hurt Don Smith to engineer a 16-14 upset (never seen before, and never again). I loved it when we dicked LShoe out of the 1999 game because the SEC executives wanted undefeated Top Ten teams winning and would do anything to keep them from losing to sorry-assed scrub teams.

As for the early start time? Think of it as a LATE Friday Night game...you college kids know how to stay up 48-72 hours at a time. Just don't go to sleep after starting the party Friday night (Thursday night for you PIKES and BSU-types).

We need to send the Corndogs back to their FEMA trailers to sniff the formaldehyde to drown their sorrows.

Geebus you are an idiot. They are running that play all game long. Its called a read option and Tyson decides whether to hand it off or keep it during the play. That time he decided to keep it and it was the right call but it was the same damn play we saw multiple times that game. See this is why everyone says you're a freaking idiot. You ***** and moan about how inefficient and unexciting the offense is and you want some "neat ****". The problem is you clearly have no football knowledge whatsoever. None. You're football IQ is somewhere around 5. I mean this is basic basic stuff and you clearly have no clue, you think the Lee TD is some new and "neat ****" but we've probably run that play or some minor variants over 20 times already this year.

Go back and draw up exciting plays in your backyard you clown and don't come back until you have some clue about how the game is played.

The reason LSU wins every year is because they have better players.Their achilles hill is their coach. They are the worst coached team in the SEC imo.LSU does not play up to their potential and they haven't since Saban left.Even their national championship they lost two games that year and backed in the championship game.
