Am I the only person who thinks Shaq Perry is a solid commit?

The guy has great numbers, has the size (6'2" 215) and related to Pig Prather and Michael Haddix. Seems like I heard a lot about him during the 7 on 7 camps this summer also. He played small division High School football and must have dominated to get this numbers.

The big names are nice but if Mullen is serious about recruiting Mississippi you have to had guys like Shaq, J. Banks and L. Perkins and others to develope. This state is full of athletes, if you can get them qualified and develop them then you get good players with out the pricetag and who's that bigger names bring with them.

I had actually never heard of the guy until today. Guess I'll have to trust the coaches on this one. Does he have a chance to qualify? When you can only sign 28 doesn't make much sense to commit and sign a guy with absolutely no chance.

With that size and those numbers you would think he would have a little more attention. Stallworth was the same way except at a large high school. Great numbers, Mr; Football, large Alabama high school, but he was like 4.7 or something. Another option is he has no chance of qualifying so no one has offered to sign and place yet.

Very similar to Q. Griffin from South Panola in that regard.

That changes things. I guess it dosen't matter that he won't be available because he would most likely redshirt next year anyway but, sure would like to have him on campus. So many guys go JUCO never to be heard from again. He said he was planning on only going to JUCO for one year? What's that about? If you didn't have the grades out of high school I thought you had to go two years? Is he a prep school type guy who we don't have a scholarship for this year?

But no chance to qualify. At least last I heard. I do think it's strange that he got offers from MSU and Southern on the same day. Maybe he got a higher test score or something?

But think of it as another Robert Elliott type sign. He is a solid back from what I saw of him. If I'm not mistaken he put up some good numbers against some pretty good teams.

He prob will not qualify. Might be a sign and place guy. Probably at Northeast.

USM said they would play him at RB, but all of the other schools looking at him were very noncommittal re his position.

From the Rivals commit article: "State has told Perry they are looking at him as a running back, safety or possibly linebacker."

Personally, I think he will end up at RB, but, we'll let the coaches figure that out once he gets to MSU.

I think with good conditioning and good coaching, he will be a heck of a player at whatever position he plays.

I'm a die hard rebel fan myself but just want yall to know I will be making as many trips to starkville asI can when shaq arrives. I've watched this kid every game in highschool, and I tell you, coach mullen has found a diamond in the rough. This kid gives you the "wow" factor just looking at him. He's 215 without a ounce of fat. As for the post saying he must be slow, this kid was the fastest guy on the field everytime he played. He's pigs half brother and michael haddix's nephew. Michael also played at walnut. I've been told by some of the older folks around here that shaq is a much better pure athlete than haddix was.He scored 43 tds this year and didn't play a down in the 2nd half in about five games! I'd say 30 of those td's were from at least 20 yards out. If he was at a bigger school and had better grades, you would be talking 4 star recruit
