2006- we were bringing in the 46th ranked recruiting class

posters were making excuses blaming Jackie (thanks Jackie!!) and talking about Crooms still had his head coaching learning curve he was overcoming...

2011- people are livid we arent signing a top 25 class

Thank God we have raised expectations- makes alot of those posts arguing against Crooms worth it

I am sure that the team Mullen puts on the field will be good. Coaching means a lot.

So now everything is OK even though our coaching staff laid a huge turd recruiting just because expectations are higher ? In my book a failure is a damn failure no matter what the expectations leading up to itand excuses following itwere.

Can you give me a few stock tips, too? If you can see three years in the future, I wanna make some money off of it.

our program was deserving of a 46th ranked recruiting class because to be blount we weren't very attractive and we had a coaching staff that was absolutely not up to par. Our offensive staff back then was borderline incompetent. That is not the case today, our coaching staff is excellent, our fan support since Mullen arrived has been excellent and our results on the field this year was excellent on top of the fact that we signed our HC to a new contract and have expansion plans all over the place. We absolutely SHOULD have raised expectations.

over all this is Nutts. Come September- guess what? We are going to be pretty phucking good. We are going bowling again- the only question is where?

I refuse to get down about something that cant be judged for 3 years. Mississippi last 3 classes including today's are top 18 or better- would you want their team or ours for the next couple of years?

C'mon Coach, I get what you're saying here and agree with it to an extent, but it is completely reasonable to at least somewhat upset over what has transpired over the last month. This year, we had a problem holding on to guys we already convinced to come to MSU and even closing on the replacement guys. We might be able to beat UM with the kind of classes we are brining in but its going to take landing at least one or two of the caliber guys lost each year to take that next step. I'm not calling for Dan's head but I sure as hell hope he is taking a look at what they did right and what they did wrong this year and fix it.

Well at least you're remaining level headed about this.

It's not easy to be Nick Saban... Dominate recruiting and coaching.

We have losing season after losing season, then Dan comes in and turns us around almost instantly. Dan and staff have taken a lot of average players and turned them good in just 2 years. I expect us to be even better next year than we were this year. I think many of the people on this board are seriously underestimating the coaching ability of Dan.

Another thing I think many of you are underestimating, is the power of Ole Miss once we get better than them. Ole Miss will not stand by and let us be a better team than them. They will do everything in their power to stop that from happening, no matter how dirty they have to get to make it happen.

To sum up... We just finished our best season in many years. Anyone who is really pissed right now b/c of our recruiting class is either mental or stupid. If you like recruiting is so important, then you should just focus on our basketball team and stay away from football.

Did we miss on some guys that we wanted, guys that are most likely going to be pretty good players? Yes. But to say that this class is a failure is 1) ridiculous and 2) short-sighted at best.

Some of you guys are acting like all we have left in our class are a couple of armless, legless retards and that we're lucky to even have them. Speaking of armless, legless retards, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I agree with Coach34. We're going to have a pretty good team in the fall, we're likely going to go to a pretty good bowl and we have a coach that has us going in the right direction.

For the rest of you who want to look at today as a failure, take a deep breath and go invest in some vagasil.

if the rest of the conference just runs off and leaves us in recruiting are you naive enough to believe we can continue to win.

Give me a break. You get what I'm saying. There are always people who over react to these things. I don't think someone voicing some displeasure over how things turned out isnecessarilyone of them in this case since there is reason for it. Now if they are declaring the entire class a failure or saying that changes in staff need to be made, that is over the top.

But I don't think the rest of the conference has run off and left us. As I said in my previous post, did we miss on some guys we wanted? Yes. But, jeebus, at least wait until these guys we did sign get on campus and play a game or two before you decide to jump off a bridge.

The #42 team in the nation goes bowling. While I want to see us progress past setting the goal at just getting to a bowl, we've only been to 2 in the past 10 years. That's not accepting mediocrity, it's just realizing that the cart doesn't come before the horse.

i say 17 that. let them jump. they are probably the mofo's that were facebook stalking players anyway. Dan coaches these guys up. i promise you Vick Ballard wouldn't have done half of what he did this past year under a different coach. he turns 2 stars to 3, 3 stars to 4. its people like y'all that are gonna make Mullen leave for North West Idaho St., then schedule MSU, and beat our *** like Maine did. **** fire.
