anyone watching the series on Starz? Just watched the first 10-15 minutes last night. Thoughts from anyone that has watched the first 3 episodes?

I want to. Hoping to find a log in, if not I'll wait and binge them all at the end.

I've heard varying comments on it. Starz usually has some good stuff so my hopes are high on this one.

I heard about this one on the radio a couple of days ago. Sounds interesting, but I don't have Starz so I guess I'll have to wait until it hits Netflix.

The days of shows hitting Netflix after a first airing are coming to an end.

Really?

That's one of the main reasons I still pay for it.

Say it ain't so Coop.

What do you base this on?

Other production companies are smart and want to make money as well. Other TV networks are smart and want to make money as well. Digital rights are coming back open. Sure some will stay with Netflix. Some will go with Hulu. Some will go back to their main platform, ie FXNow, AMC Go, etc. However - new series? No way companies will sell their rights to Netflix for cheap and I doubt Netflix is looking to throw that much coin at other people's IP.

I totally agree on Netflix. I like a few of their shows, but I pay $9.99 a month for their catalog. I'm hopeful that some of the "old" shows I like (30 Rock, The Office, Parks & Rec, Cheers, Archer, etc) will stay on there for a long time, but I don't hold old much hope.

Then again, where will the entertainment industry be 5 years down the road? 10 years down the road?

OK. Netflix keeps me from going to Redbox every other week, and I refuse to pay direcTV or Comcast's ripoff rates any more.

I have Sling-TV and Netflix, and if Netflix starts losing programming I'll have to let them go too I guess.

Maybe You tube T-V I've heard some posters talk about is the new way to go?

I don't think much of their current catalog will disappear all that quickly. The intent behind my original post was that I don't think a premium channel is going to give up digital rights to their IP as quickly as they did in years past.

I cut the cord and use Netflix and recently hooked up with the DirecTV Now streaming service. I love it. I locked in at the beta test rate of $30 a month for 100+ channels AND HBO. I've read some poor reviews on YouTube TV. I think Sling TV is probably the best rated option right now. Or Playstation Vue. I think @bornaneer uses a streaming service.

How does that streaming service work - do you get a 'box' for every TV or just log-on through your TV? What kind of wifi set-up do you have?

I have 2 TVs in my house. One has an Apple TV (main TV) the other I use an old Amazon Fire. Some of the newer smart TVs may have streaming services on them? I really don't know.

I still get cable Internet through Suddenlink. Think it's $40 a month?

Should point out I get all my locals in HD with a built in antenna in my TV. You can buy digital antennas for pretty cheap, but this is assuming you live close enough to the signal.

I'm like Coop. Only I use Chromecast on my 55 inch flat screen. I also use Sling-TV and Netflix, and I too have a digital antenna that pulls in at least 60 free over the air channels available to us here in the Atlanta metro area.

When I stream movies or watch ESPN on my tablet, I use Chromecast or sometimes I simply hook my tablet up to the T-V via an HDMI cord. My internet connection comes through AT&T U verse, but I don't subscribe to their T-V service, just internet and phone.

I can also watch both (Netflix and Sling) on any of my three PC's in the house. I'm intrigued by the new smart T-V's, but I just can't see a need for them now unless Sling/and or Netflix are replaced by less expensive alternatives or better programming at comparable prices.

I use DIrecTV Now. I get ESPN, ESPN 2 and ESPNU. FS1, FS2. MLB TV, NBA TV, Fox Sports Ohio (showed a bunch of Cavs games during the basketball season, not sure if it's Reds or Indians for baseball). I believe my Fox Sports Ohio is based on my location, ie - it's the channel I'd get with a normal DirecTV package. Also get Longhorn network - may come in handy if they ever stick WVU on their again.

Had TNT, TBS, Tru TV for March Madness.

Again, can't stress enough the importance of picking up your locals in HD.

I agree with Coop here, this is key. I get most of those sports channels with Sling-TV, and you can purchase upgrades for FS-1, ESPNU and others. (I do this during football season for 4.99 extra)

But Coop's right, local digital channels make cutting the cord worthwhile. Check your local offerings before getting an antenna, and get one with at least a 40 mile range.

Here is a listing of all my local digital channels available for free in Atlanta.

I forgot to mention CthruU. He fills in all the gaps (ie: Root Sports, Fox sports South, etc) during Football season. He is worth his weight in gold for us cord cutters.

Special thanks to him for the wonderful service he provides to Blue Lotters.

My new Samsung has streaming apps (Hulu, Netflix, and some others) pre loaded on the TV. I use the Netflix app all the time.

Watched episode 1 and 2 now. A little slow but I can see there has to be a lot of background build-up to get this going. Seems like a lot of characters have to be introduced.
