You literally don't even understand how it works. Frameworks/guidelines including NIST, ISO 27001 SOC Type 1 and Type 2, GPDR, PCI DSS,. etc... that companies adhere to. Especially larger corporations will follow, held liable to, best practices, etc... Frameworks are constantly being updated (should always be..) to best practices. This includes data at rest, data in transit, and data motion. Unfortunately, there will never be a perfect scenario as we are playing in a dynamic relationship of technology in which bad intentions vs protecting data is occurring. This is why our cybersecurity field is one of the fasted growing careers in IT.

You have no idea how many times you have been hacked including emails, web sites, etc... A lot of it comes from a lack of knowing how to protect yourself and of course hackers getting your info.
You, myself, pretty much every poster on this forum, has our data out there that's been stolen. Hackers, organizations, political, script kiddies, nation states, etc... are the players on the field. That's why I have to deal with DDoS attacks, social engineering, malware, phishing, data being stolen, etc.. at work
For example, just emails alone, using a site like have i been pwned shows how many times (if any) times you are hacked with association of to your email. I have several emails with a couple being hacked. It just a reality of today's world.
Two MFA, biometric, antivirus, hash value, certificates, tokens, etc... will prevent but as stated before, there ae a lot of bad intentions in this country and world.
