Both Penn State and Providence were essentially done by February 28 or so. Everyone knew that Brey was getting fired and ND was the perfect fit for Shrewsbury. Other big-time coached were in the mix,but he was always the prime candidate.It is a job with minimal internal scripting because of the vast shadow football created.


Cooley's agent and Georgetown were in touch in February and he put his house on the market on March 3. Doris Burke and Rick Barnes did a zoom with the Providence AD 2-3 weeks ago and sold him on Kim English. There was no other candidate.


As to Penn State,the early names are Matt Langel,Keith Urgo who was once there and Mitch Henderson. Way too early there.

Doris Burke is a Providence grad but this seems like an odd way to hire with no real coaching search and totally unproven where he immediately sits at the bottom of the coaching heirarchy.

You can watch on youtube-- the local providence TV station did a pretty scathing expose on Cooley. They even had the signature page of his agreement to sell his house on 3/3. Man has his image taken a hit. No mention about Doris Burke however but he looks like a sleaze.

Maybe that's the personal angle and there's family troubles?? But if so he could have saved that school and area a lot of pain running away differently.

to keep the Realhousewives angle going, Juan got canned at Coppin State for the catfishing scandal but also appeared prominently on the show as Robin's husband.

Moral of the story is stay off of reality television if you want to keep your job and marriage
