The attention whores of the NBA have not quite wrapped it up yet, but they probably will beat the Bulls in the series. The Bulls still need some seasoning.. still a pretty young bunch.

but was there really any doubt that when Lebron, Dwayne Wade and whoever the third superstar was, announced they would all be on the Heat, that they would win the NBA title??

many people didnt think their roster was good enough to beat Boston or LA this season

Plus you have Wade and LeBron who play a similar style and are essentially the same kind of player. Whereas the Boston 3 complemented each other.

and if they don't win the Title, I really don't care if I'm wrong. Pretty sure the Heat has the best players in the NBA though, and the best players usually win, especially in a best of series.

I'm not going to condemn a group of guys that decided to band together to go for a title, but I'm sure as hell not going to cheer for them either. The thing that worries me even more about this is that while people compare this Heat team to the Celtics' Big 3, there's one huge difference that most people are overlooking.

Avg age of Boston's Big 3 when they joined forces -31
Avg age of Miami's Big 3 when they joined forces - 26

So in other words, if Miami is able to win a championship this year after only having enough time to throw a ragtag group of guys around the big guns, the league is in big trouble. Barring injuries, they could be set to win 7-8 titles over the next decade.

On paper, if everything stays the same, with their age and the ability to piece parts around them to make a good team, they could go on quite a tear.

However, it's evident now that all of the big time free agents are looking to do the same thing. The Knicks had Amare, and Carmelo basically chose to play with him. They've got other issues too, but I won't be surprised if Chris Paul decides to join that party in the near future, or maybe he'll join Kobe in LA. I also won't be surprised if Dwight Howard decides to join Derek Rose in Chicago, or at least some other big name free agents will join up with Rose.

It's going to be the new way to create a champion in the NBA. Have a big market team. Pick up one star. Wait until some others from smaller markets are free agents, and they'll jump on the ship too.

I'm going to be curious to see what Kevin Durant does and Russell Westbrook, but more importantly Durant. Will they stay in OKC when they become free agents? Will one or both decide to stay? More than likely they'll look for the big market, and Durant especially will be able to name his price and location.

I'm hoping that the new CBA will have a stronger stipulation in it for free agents who decide to leave. The home team being able to offer an extra year on a contract for a player simply isn't cutting it anymore. The NBA needs to adopt some form of the NFL's franchise tag.

If this doesn't happen, then I agree with you that there will only be a handful of superpowers in the near future and while I can't tell you the exact players that will be on those teams, I can tell you the cities.

beginning of the year that was true, but as the season went on, it was pretty obvious that they had a good shot at a title.

that you didn't watch any of the season and are just now going over the results on NBA.com, but if you had, you would have realized that they were a pretty damn good team the last few months. For someone to say that they were not a serious contender, based on the results they had the last few months, would be dumb.

I have heard several times on radio that Stern isnt thrilled with these big market teams stacking all of the stars like this, and I cannot see him allowing it to conitinue.

I guess that is something I disagree with. After watching the final 1/3 of the season, I thought they were playing the best.

He could choose to let it be this way. Let there be a balance of power with a few major East coast teams (Boston, Miami, New York). Throw in a Chicago. Then a West coast team (LA obviously), with maybe a Texas team like Dallas and let those major markets run the show. A lot of NBA fans are bandwagon fans anyway, so you can either embrace that or do something to try to make it more like the NFL where every team really does have a shot.

1. Rondo getting hurt in the playoffs thanks to D Wades wrestling move.
2. Danny Ainge being an idiot and trading Kendrick Perkins.
