I believe Strong is getting another year at Texas. If it isn't a good year (at least 8 wins), he's out. His 3rd year at UL was supposedly the turning point for that team so they think his 3rd year will be a good one at Texas.

If Texas fires strong they're going to have a hard time finding somebody quality to replace him this late. If anything it's an extra candidate to add to our potential pool.

Firings are done. Only other changes would be replacing guys going to the NFL.

No they wont. Tom Herman is sitting there a couple hundred miles away turning down p5 jobs in anticipation.

The point about Golden is valid. How come no one is jumping on him? Maryland never considered him. Virginia doesn't seem to be. To be fair I haven't heard Chris Ashs name mentioned anywhere either.

You have 2 guys (Ash and Golden)

You have 2 doors.
What is behind the 2 doors?

Door 1 contains white bread. Bleh.
Door 2 contains a bit of an unknown, but it could be great.

Why would you choose door 1?
There isn't a shiny prize behind door 1.
We know what it is.

So far Da U is the only Power 5 to hire a former HC. Everyone else even the biggest names have hired DC and OC to become their new HC.

In the end it's all about $$. Miami is willing to pony up $4.mil to get a top end coach. Most of the available jobs(including RU) aren't going to pay those $$. So you are left with assistants who want to move up.

Coaches not on anyone's list outside of Rutgers.
1. Golden
2. Edsall
3. Flood

Why are some here so high on Golden?

So Georgia, USC, Maryland don't have the will the pay that kind of money ? WTF?

It is about finding the best fit not the biggest name. With Miami, they just wanted the biggest name but that is not a good culture fit and it will end poorly. Not because he is a bad HC but due to the endless cheating and boosters, I don't know how much he can take that. He refused to play along even in the SEC, which was one of the main reasons fans and boosters wanted him gone.

Incredible mystery - right now Golden is about like Geno Smith - arguably there might be talent there - maybe - but has to do something to re-establish a belief in ability to lead - no sane individual would entrust either with the top position at this point.

If you stay rooted in the present & in the recent 3-4 year past, what tangible achievements can be identified that outweigh the dark cloud surrounding Golden? - what tangible accomplishments make him desirable in the context of all of the candidates in the market? -
