0-12 actually...I'd say its pretty important for Miles to get his first win over them this year. Last two years he got worked over by the Creighton staff. If he continues to be stubborn going into that game he will be 0-5 vs the Omaha team.
Soooo it seems that White's daddy got involved with his decision to leave NU. At least one school closer to his hometown is apparently in the running (NCState) and then Texas. Both of their head coaches recruited him both out of high school and then when he left KU.......Both schools have at least one open scholarship and I think Texas has 2. How could Smart have 2 scholarships open this late? I thought he was God's gift to basketball.

In all honesty, that probably would be a good place to go for him. McDermott knows how to coach offense and put a lot of points on the board, and they have a good nucleus of players returning.

But rumors on Twitter are that Virginia, Indiana, Ohio St, Michigan, and Mizzou are among the teams that contacted him. It would suck twice as much to lose him to another Big Ten school, but it is what it is. I don't really blame him for leaving, he finished his degree - it's just the timing of it is very unfortunate.

does it matter if we lose to them with him on our roster or him on their roster?

Would you like to compare Miles accolades to Smart? Give it a shot...even you won't be able to make Miles look good in that regard. It's not really the fact that we have two open scholarships at this point in time....it's the fact that it's looking like once again we will not fill out the roster for the FIFTH consecutive year under Miles. At what point does he take us off probation? I'm all for not signing players just to sign them....but when over and over and over again you show you are unable to utilize all your open scholarships on solid prospects...you are doing something wrong.

Good luck to AWIII. If we recruit more top flight players, expect this type of behavior to accompany them (aka get used to it). They are all about the TEAM and THEMSELVES. I know, that doesn't seem logically possible, but it is indeed the case. All coaches have had to adapt to this mentality from most top flight talent...mainly by understanding that they have to bite their tongue or risk being labeled as a "non players coach" in situations like these. Nevertheless, coach's need to be prepared for all roster situations with personnel (much easier said than done). AWIII has holes in his game but does have a superior shoot...that might get him to the pro's, it might not. He clearly has ambitions to play professionally...

This board went bonkers on our old football coach when he didn't fill out the roster...glad somebody is mentioning the same issue with Miles. Kind of a make it or break next year or two for both Riley and Miles (Miles more than Riley)...

You seemed to have missed the point about White's daddy getting involved. I'm not arguing that Smart has had some success. The point is that somebody got in daddy's ear and convinced them that they can get his kid to the NBA.........not gonna happen. NU wasn't/isn't the only school out there with 2 open scholarships but whatever. Miles would be a better coach if he had oversigned with a couple of marginal prospects to he didn't have any scholarships left.

huh? What part of Miles NEVER utilizing all of the alloted scholarships do you not understand? You act as if this year is an anomaly. Sorry, when we are mediocre again this year...you can use Andrew White's dad as an excuse. I won't. As far as Miles inability to land a full recruiting class...every...single...year...I would say that's a Miles problem no matter what spin you may come up with for him. It's really not a good idea to put yourself on probation when you are trying to build a program. Like I said, I would much rather hold the scholarship for the next class instead of reaching...but the fact that it's happend four times now and going on five...yeah, another bad look for Miles. Hopefully he can find a 5th year transfer or next years excuse will be "well, what do you expect...we only have 10 eligible scholarship players."

Miles has ALWAYS had a history of getting some pretty darned good transfers pretty late in the cycle. He EXPECTED White to be back. So IF he had filled the other open scholarship with a developmental kid what would he do if had landed one of the transfers he was recruiting. White screwed the Huskers (his teammates included) over and I don't know what Miles could have done to prevent it. It's pretty obvious that you have a personal vendetta against Miles so just keep beating the drum.

Not worth it, clearly you are ignoring the fact that Miles has never filled out a roster. I don't have any personal vendetta against him...I'm just not going to make excuses for the failures within the program like you do. You can continue to do so.......I would rather be wrong than right, but the proof will be in the pudding starting in November and onward.

BTW, if Miles has been recruiting other transfers..he failed because the transfer market is pretty bare now unless another player pulls an Andrew White. The plan im sure was to go into next year with another unused scholarship in hopes he could fill it in the 17' class. Now that White has left we are back in the transfer market with slim pickings.

I don't get the impression anyone got into Daddy's ear. I think daddy has likely been in AW3's ear for months about leaving Nebraska. As a father, I can see why he'd want his son to move on to somewhere else since he could.

If his father is objective, he should be able to see his flaws in his son's game, and realize that going to a team better suited to win a few in the dance would only help his low chances of being drafted.

Maybe, just maybe, AW3 didn't really want to move on, and it took a month or 2 of daddy chirping in his ear to get him to jump ship? Only AW3 knows, and I doubt he'll tell publicly. At least not for awhile.
