This is huge get if we can get him cleared! Love it!
He is Croatian , about 6’11 last played in Serbia as Power forward and can play center.
Compared to Big Z, this guy is more mobile, and reliable, averaged :
-28 minutes so well conditioned
-11 pts / game , 60 % FG, 32.3% from3,
- FT 67.7% so not that great
- 7.4 rebounds (6 d, 1.4 o )
His first name Andrija is the equivalent of Andrew. “ jela” means “fir tree” , where “ic” means “son of” / descendent of … so “Andrew the son of Fir Trees “ .
He is one of the best European prospects. He will turn 21 in May, and very experienced playing 53 games for Belgrade, Serbia based Mega Superbet in the competitive Adriatic League the past two seasons.
Jelavic possesses a 7'2 wingspan, excellent mobility and the versatility and skill to slide all over the floor on both ends, making 52 3s in his 53 games the past two seasons. He can pass the ball and will be a big upgrade compared to big Z and will be a very nice replacement to Carr with higher upside.

Just because we sign a 6-10 stretch 4 doesn't mean we are out for Wilkerson. We will sign a backup PG and a proven shooter.
Some would point to Carr dipping to 32% this year but IMO that was his back injury, its hard to shoot when your back hurts.
Now that is what I call a Carr replacement! Damn!
Well I am impressed with how he runs the floor and his handle. Needs to get to the dinner table and hit the weights hard. No telling how good he can get with excellent coaching!

Seriously, I'm really excited about this guy after watching half an hour of video. A team of genius designers couldn't have come up with a prototype of a 4 for Pope's system much better than this guy. He's an NBA-caliber athlete, passer, runs the floor well, has the capacity to stretch defenses with his shot, has played at a high level in Europe.

I realize he's a guard, but with a floor FULL of talent, it's easier to shoot a higher percentage. And I DEFINITELY think that Carr's back brought his 3 pt shooting down.

Can we think Platoon? I know Cal said never again, but we did awesome until he quit platooning!
Shoot 28% in 23/24 and 32% in 24/25. Averages about 1 made 3 per game.
2023/24 season - 27/94 28% - 1 made per game on 3.6 attempts per game.
2024/25 season - 21/65 32% - .09 made per game on 2.9 attempts per game.
Not any different than Brandon Garrison. I DO like the player, I do NOT like the posters shitting on Brandon Garrison like this guy is leaps and bounds better.

Yeah it’s hard for me to see JQ BG and MM if they are all 5’s. If JQ isn’t ready then it’s fine, if he is ready BG needs some backup 4 minutes. Lots of ways it can work out just can’t bury top freshmen and I don’t think we will.
It's the future of the sport for sure. Some of those Euro dudes put some of our American talent to shame.
I’ve watched games of him on the international site he has a ton of post moves and uses both hands. Dude moves and handles the ball like a 6’6 wing guard.
This dude plays in a competitive EuroLeague with grown men …I’d say overall he’s a good way ahead of BG in skill set and understanding the game.

Genuinely, I still think we need BG to return. Hope Pope convinced him to stay.
I loved the fire in BG just wished he could control it. We need players with that kind of attitude that don’t want to get bullied on the court
What we do is sign the agreement showing DUKE as his team. They will quickly okay this transfer. However, the D and the E will be written in disappearing ink. The NCAA will read, "Committed to DUKE." Then, in a couple of days the D and E will disappear and will read UK. Yeah!

This is my thoughts also.
Read one NBA evaluation listing him as a good rebounder and good off the ball. Listed as adequate in most other areas. Biggest knock is can be inconsistent. Projected as a future second round pick.
The real question does the NCAA even wait until Monday to tell Pope they would like review his eligibility.
